Worked as smooth as butter

  • Usually, I use the Duplicator plugin for migration purpose. However, this time I have no FTP or Hosting Panel (File Manager) access.

    1. First, I tried All-in-One WP Migration, which stuck while restoring on target site.
    2. Next I tried with Migrate Guru: Migrate & Clone WordPress Free plugin which totally failed on my localhost environment.
    3. Finally, came on Migrate & Backup WordPress – WPvivid Backup Plugin and gladly it worked well at first without any obstacle.

    I’m very thankful for this plugin. There are still a lot of features of this wonderful plugin that I have yet to be explored.

    -ADDED NEW LINE
    The only con I was found that some images URL still pointing out to Localhost, I need to use manual work to replace them with site URL.

    Would you please tell me what type of images our plugin ‘still points out to localhost’? icons? or some images in posts or other post-types? that could be a bug.

    The information is quite important, thank you so much again.
    The algorithm for replacing the URL is to traverse the entire database and then detect the URL that matches the current domain name. There are still some links pointing out to the old URL, which means that our replacement rules don’t cover all situations.
    Currently, the rules that replace the old URL with the new URL (https://, https://, ://) are covered. For example:
    https://aaa.com to https://bbb.com
    https://aaa.com to https://bbb.com
    ://aaa.com to ://bbb.com etc.
    The replacements would be ok.
    SO, would you please list an example (URL) of replacement failure here or What those urls look like (before replacement, after replacement)?

    You can try the WordPress site on Localhost with Elementor plugin. Add inner section on any page with Background image. Also, add button, linked to inner page (do not type URL directly, instead type 3-4 word of another page name then the select name from the suggested list).

    Now, use your plugin to move that site to the web. Hope it will reproduce the 404 error that I was faced. Probably with https://localhost in it.

    I have used Elementor’s inbuilt search & replace tool to replace affected URLs from Admin Panel > Elementor plugin > Tools > Replace URL tab.
