• I recently paid for a shared hosting account through NameCheap, and have been trying unsuccessfully to connect my Microsoft Word 365 to my blog as to post directly from word, but I get the following error. Word cannot register your account.

I have tried using https://, https:// and have even tried without the http at all, and I get the same error every time.
I have double checked the username and password, and they are correct as well.

I just tested this out on a fresh WordPress site, and I was able to register an account and post to the site successfully, as you can see in the screenshot below.

So this is surely something at your end — your local computer/network, hosting server, or some WordPress plugin — that’s preventing MS Word from registering your site/account.

    Word cannot register your account.

I’ve been able to take a closer look at this, and I’m wondering… is the above the EXACT error message you got? Or was there additional info?

From my tests, it seems if the exact error message is ONLY “Word cannot register your account”, then the connection was successful, but the authentication failed.

If the connection is NOT successful, you should see a more complete error message like this “Word cannot register your account. The provider where you are trying to publish is unavailable. Contact your provider for assistance.”

Here I entered the correct URL to a blog I had previously connected (so I was 100% sure everything was working correctly), but I intentionally used the wrong password:

Here I entered the correct URL to a blog with XMLRPC disabled (via the Perfmatters plugin), so the connection was unsuccessful. Got the same error message on a blog with XMRPC enabled, but in “maintenance mode”.

Is it possible that XMLRPC is disabled for my hosting account, and I need to request they enable it?

    Hi.
I had the same problem. Did it work?

It did not fix my issue, and I wonder if it is because my Web hosting company uses NGINX instead of apache?

I have no idea. I got the advice to change my password in a more complexe one. I tried that and also this did not work.
With my WordPress.com blog website I have no problems publishing.
And until 2 weeks ago with Wordrpess.org it all worked well. Then suddenly I could not publish anymore. I read many forums and tried to enable xmsrpc, but nothing helped
If somebody has an idea, please HELP!
