• Hi,

I have been developing a site for a few months one of the things needed was dual language which I have had working perfectly for months.

We went live with the webshop last week and had to install https (ssl) to make the shoping cart work.
Since then the translation doesnt work properly.

    https://www.alpacaspain.com/

If you click the Spanish flag it changes the home page to spanish (perfect)
but any link you click on doesnt keep the /es/ in the address so it constantly reverts back to english?

The Permalinks is set to custom structure
    /%category%/%postname%/

It was working perfectly with this set.

Can anybody tell me whats gone wrong?
    Thanks

  • Hi format19,

I have the same issue, and I see you found a solution.

    How did you solve this?

    Thank you.

    Hi Singcap,

Im sorry to say Im not 100% sure anymore.
I had such a nightmare of a time implementing the SSL cert as it broke a load of things and couldnt get much help from anyone.

Come the finish I think you will find it was one of 2 things.
If you have iThemes Security installed disable it temporarily and test, it could have been some option in there.
more likely was the thing that caused a load of probs which was some of the graphics were not being loaded over HTTPS and so the security at that point kept dumping me back to the home page so as to keep me secure.

used this site to get a list of all non https content
    https://www.whynopadlock.com

and then followed these instructions on how to fix
    https://managewp.com/wordpress-ssl-settings-and-how-to-resolve-mixed-content-warnings

    I hope that helps ??

    Thank you.

It doesn’t work for me, though. I’ve already went through the SSL instructions, and all seems to be in order.

What I am finding though is, that if I put a relative link within a post the link is rewritten correctly to include the language, but for some reason, it doesn’t work in the main menu. Not sure why.

    I’ll keep trying.

Hey singcap did you solve this? I have the same issue and my links stop working in English but they work in the default which is german
    My website is at https://pitupi.de/

With the only difference that I did not make any changes meanwhile, not that I know. I have made a local copy of the website and the links work there.
My Permalinks is set to custom structure
    /%category%/%postname%/
Sometimes I am having troubles with this plugin cause it seems unstable and out of the blue something goes wrong without explanation and i find myself clueles.

    Anyhelp would be appreciated!
