  • My guess is that without the https://, it treats it as a relative link and not an absolute one. Same thing happens when you do that with an anchor tag in normal HTML. So, actually, it’s behaving properly and is not a bug.

    That’s how links are supposed to behave. The https:// is not an optional extra.

    Thanks for the replies! It is just that, I assumed that the https:// would automatically precede non-https:// links. I guess that works only in the case of browsers.
