Not accepting relative URL: ../

just use the path to your page/post without the domain part.
Example, in your case, just use : /portfolio/australia/

By the way, really nice pictures ??
I like the street ones most (probably even because I would never be able to make a picture to a stranger…)!

Many thanks for getting back to me, I tried that variation as well but displays a 404 error. Will go back to my host and see what support suggests.

Thanks for the vote of confidence – I love candid photography and many in the Australia portfolio are 35mm film ?? I’m loading many more portfolios as we speak as I have 60+ countries to finish and the reason I don’t want my links broken when I go live.

An update, I still can’t resolve the Relative link issue in RVM. Themify (my theme) advises it’s not a theme issue. InMotion (my host) advises it’s not a host issue.
I’m not sure whether it’s a WP issue or an RVM issue and wondering whether anyone else has experienced this problem?

The relative link still doesn’t work. My site is live now and I’m sorting through “mixed content issues”.

I’m going ahead and replacing my temp URL to my HTTPS URL in the RVM marker link section. This only displays correctly when I enter the full HTTPS url – weird it’s working on your end.

FWIW, there is a plugin, absolute-relative-urls, whose purpose is to remove URLs as content is saved (relative URLs) and restore the current URL as content is displayed (absolute URLs).

The idea is to make it easier to migrate from staging to production, etc. If the RVM plugin doesn’t work 100% with that out of the box, you may be able to add additional filters to the list already supported by the ARU plugin to make it work.

Many thanks @intuitart for your suggestion but I’m trying to limit the number of plugins in my site.

I did try that plugin last year whilst it was in staging. However, when deactivated, it changed all URLs throughout my site back to absolute even where I had relative URLs in other pages (not RVM). Also, I didn’t want to have to run the plugin permanently.

I’ve left absolute URLs in RVM as this is the only way I could get everything to work.

I hear you @nillamary about limiting the number of plugins running.

Just for clarification though, the ARU plugin would not change URLs back to absolute when deactivated. Rather, it would stay out of the way and do nothing once deleted or deactivated.

The feature of the ARU plugin that other ‘relative url’ plugins generally miss is the ability to reproduce the absolute url for the front end, while saving as relative in the database. That provides portability, and at the same time it provides the absolute url that is always desired, and sometimes necessary, on the front end.

Anyway, the important thing is that your setup is working for you. I jumped in because I saw you needing absolute urls on the front end while wanting portability on the back end. And that’s what the ARU plugin aims to achieve.
