    Hello,

    I am seeking help in recreating the “Home” heading in the top menu of my blog homepage at https://www.sonnybohanan.com. I’m using the Twenty-Twelve theme.

    Until recently, I had a properly functioning “Home” heading in the top menu of my blog. When the user clicked it, it navigated to the top of the homepage, to my latest post. The “Home” heading, as far as I know, is the only way for my site users to navigate to the top of the homepage for the latest post. (Previous posts are beneath the latest post in reverse chronological order, in infinite scroll.)

    When I started the blog two years ago, I was able to set up the “Home” heading correctly, but for the life of me I can’t figure it out now, and I don’t know what I did to make it disappear, either.

    A related question: I’d also like to add a “Poetry” heading in the top menu (and other headings in the future), but I was unsuccessful doing that, too. My latest post (as of this writing) is about poet Jack Gilbert. Once the Poetry heading is set up, will it be possible to align that existing post under the new Poetry heading?

    Thanks for your attention and any help you can provide.

  • Changing the setting under Settings -> Discussion was the right thing to do, but it’s not retroactive. Meaning, you need to update all of your posts and pages to disable trackbacks for each one.

    If you know how to open up phpmyadmin, run this SQL command against your WordPress database:

    UPDATE wp_posts SET ping_status='closed';

    That will update all posts and pages instantly.

    Regarding adding “Poetry” to your header, just edit that post and add it to the “Poetry” category and then insert the “Poetry” category link to your menu under Appearance -> Menus.

    Thanks, acchiappaprezzo, but I’m pretty sure I didn’t change the setting under Settings –> Discussion. I changed it under Appearance –> Menus. I’m wondering if you accidentally replied here when you meant to answer a different topic?

    I don’t know how to open up phpmyadmin, nor do I know how to run a SQL command against my WordPress database. But I think I’ll wait until I hear back from you because I’m just not sure how much of the information in your replay above was meant for me. I do appreciate your trying to help me, though.

    Also, I see that the link to my site doesn’t actually work so I’ll try again here:
