    Hi, I’m getting the following Error when I try to connect my store to mailchimp:

    Mailchimp says: API Request Error – 0 :: on 1685 in /home/public_html/wp-content/plugins/mailchimp-for-woocommerce/includes/api/class-mailchimp-api.php

    I do get a message saying:

    Connection in progress

    then

    Connected! Please wait while loading next step

    then I get the error.

    I’m definitely connecting to the API, as when I go to https://us4.admin.mailchimp.com/account/api/, the connection shows up in the log:

  • I’m having the same issue. Happen to have found a fix for it?

    @zachtownsend @themaxx77, thanks for reaching out. Those errors usually are coming from Mailchimp’s API gateway service (Akamai). The quick and easy way to see if the problem was temporary is to perform a fresh uninstall and install. Have you given that a try?

    Would that be a fresh uninstall and install of the plugin?

    Yes, the plugin only, @zachtownsend sorry for not clarifying.

    I have tried this, and I’m still getting the same error

    The error I am getting is:

    Mailchimp says: API Request Error – 503 :: on 1685 in /path/to/plugins/mailchimp-for-woocommerce/includes/api/class-mailchimp-api.php

    Hi @zachtownsend, thanks for reaching out. Since you’re receiving a 503 error code, that’s also coming from Mailchimp’s API gateway service (Akamai). Since you’ve already tried an uninstall/reinstall, troubleshooting something like this moving forward can be technical in nature and we suggest asking your host or a 3rd party developer for help if you’re not comfortable running the following commands:

    The first step is to see if your server can communicate directly with the Mailchimp API using the CURL command below: curl -v -X GET https://{$DATA_CENTER}.api.mailchimp.com/3.0/ecommerce/stores?apikey={$API_KEY}

    Please replace the $DATA_CENTER and the $API_KEY with your credentials. You can locate the $DATA_CENTER number in the URL, for example us19. If you receive a valid response from the Mailchimp API, that helps us solve the first step of determining whether or not your server has been IP Blacklisted by the API gateway.
    Once we’ve verified that you are able to make calls directly using CURL – we can then see if there might be another SSL handshake issue / OpenSSL / libCURL issue that might need to be addressed by your server admins.

    Give that a try and let us know if it solved the issue. I look forward to hearing back from you.

    Hi, I also encountered this error on one of my client’s site. It was functioning without error last month.

    Mailchimp says: API Request Error – 0 :: on 1685 in /var/www/vhosts/domain.com/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/mailchimp-for-woocommerce/includes/api/class-mailchimp-api.php

    Mailchimp sync status was showing today’s date/time which I deleted and reinstalled. Any other solution to resolve this?

    Thanks

    @mattotomato this sounds like you might be getting blocked by Akamai’s API gateway service. Do you know if your client is on a shared IP? Typically this error happens when your IP address is blacklisted.

    @mattotomato just wanted to follow up with you to get your issue resolved. Please respond when you have time.

    Hi,
    i am facing the same issued here as well.
    “Mailchimp says: API Request Error – 503 :: on 1685 in /home2/voicebli/public_html/beauchic.my/wp-content/plugins/mailchimp-for-woocommerce/includes/api/class-mailchimp-api.php”

    i have tried to uninstall and reinstall, but still getting the same issued.

    please advise with thanks.

    (@ryanhungate)

    @beauchicmy this is very typical when your IP address has been blacklisted from Akamai – which is the Mailchimp API gateway. If you’re on a shared web host, you’ll need to have them move you to another IP address, or better yet have them move you to a dedicated IP in order to fix this issue.

    This can be technical in nature so please reach out to your hosting provider – tell them that your server IP has been blacklisted by an important service that your business relies on – and that you need a dedicated IP to resolve it.

    You’ll have to also change your DNS if you’re specifically targeting in on the IP address in an A record but this is something you would be able to work out with your host and your DNS provider very easily.

    @mattotomato please re open this case if you are still experiencing this issue.

    Hi @fatemasoma, thanks for reaching out, but this thread is over three months old and there have been multiple updates to the plugin since the topic originated.

    We would recommend posting a new ticket in the support forum or in our Github issue tracker so our development team can review. Before doing so, please ensure you are running the latest version of the plugin (v2.3.1) at the time of this post.

    I have still same error and the hosting website support says contact mail chimp plugin vendor and ask them if there any IP that need to be whitlisted, can you help me with it ?
