Can't hyperlink
-
After installing WordPress 3.2.1,
I am unable to hyperlink URLs.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

Link? Unless we can see the problem for ourselves, it’s very hard to give a sensible reply.

Thanks for responding.
Here’s the link the way I typed it in my post.
https://www.stephaniebarko.comThen I highlight and copy it.
Then I click “link” and the new dialog box in 3.2.1 comes up
and I insert https://www.stephaniebarko after https://.Then WordPress shifts back to my post, but does not hyperlink the URL (the way it used to before the upgrade).
If this is not enough detail for you, please state what else you need to troubleshoot my no longer being able to hypertext after the upgrade to 3.2.1.
Ah! OK, you’re talking about creating a hyperlink in an article (Page or Post), using the Dashboard editor, are you?
Obviously we can’t see that (unless you give someone access to your back end which is probably not a good idea in these circumstances).
One thing that I notice from what you’ve just said is that you say:
Then I click “link” and the new dialog box in 3.2.1 comes up and I insert https://www.stephaniebarko after https://.
If that really is what you’re doing and not just a slip of the tongue, then what you will get as your href in the link will be something like:
https://https://www.stephaniebarko.com
This would not be a valid URL and so would not work. You need to **replace** the ‘https://’ that the editor displays. You would only insert after the ‘https://’ displayed by the editor if the value you were pasting in did not already contain that.

No, I’m not doubling the https://.
I’m inserting only what would be a valid URL to link.
From reading a tech note, I also got the idea that my blog posts were supposed to be automatically linking URLs that started with https:// all this time, and that’s never happened either.
Is there a switch I need to flip in my left sidebar that tells WordPress how I want my URLs to look in my blog posts?
I really don’t understand why this isn’t working. It was working fine before I upgraded to 3.2.1
It’s a hard one to answer, this, because we can’t see what’s going on…
Can you open your Dashboard and Edit one of your posts or pages on which you have a URL? Then, in the editor click on the HTML tab and find the
<a>
element that the Editor has created? When you’ve done that, could you copy the whole
<a>
element plus a bit of surrounding text, for context, and post it here?Next, could you post the URL to that page on your site so that we can compare what the Editor is producing with what the site is outputting?
Sorry it’s a bit convoluted, but I can’t think of any other way to get to compare what should be happening with what is.

As you can see below, part of your message came through as glyphs, so I don’t know what you’re asking me to do. Can you try again?
You wrote:“It’s a hard one to answer, this, because we can’t see what’s going on…

I don’t know what you mean by glyphs. All I see on my screen is text both in my original post and in your copy.

And this is posted from a different computer with a different operating system and I still only see text. So I don’t know what you mean by ‘glyphs’

Ah! I can see where the problem is, although why your box should be behaving as it is, I don’t know. It appears not to like code blocks. Strange.
So here’s what I asked, without the code code (as it were)

The guest on my blog yesterday knew how to fix this.
All that needs to happen is to switch into Visual mode while composing.
Hyperlinks can no longer be accomplished with a blog post in HTML mode since 3.2.1 was pushed.
Hi, I am having a similar problem. Since yesterday I cannot add a hyperlink into my blog posts. I am highlighting the words I want to add the link too. Copying the link e.g. https://www.sunnychallenges.blogspot.com/ Then when I click on update it just goes back to the list of all my posts and doesn’t add the link OR a pop up window asks me do I really want to navigate away from the page. It is driving me nuts and I don’t know how to fix it.
Same thing for me!
Even though I upgraded to 3.2.2, the problem with adding links to a post or page remains!
When I highlight the words I want to add the link to, I copy the link e.g. https://kendamacanada.com/boutique/ , then I click on update and it goes back to the list of all my posts and doesn’t add the link.
To work around this bug, I switched to the HTML editor and added the tag, but still, this is annoying.
