    I’ve read a couple of support articles. This one seems close to my issue:

    I recently migrated my site https://apbmodern.com from a server to wordpress.com hosting. On my server I had wordpress installed in a folder ‘wordpress’ in the root. On wordpress.com hosting wordpress is effectively installed in the root. The address to my wp-admin has changed as a result.

    After the migration Site Kit was saying another user had admin access (there is only one user). I reset Site Kit in Tools / available tools. I then got the regular message to connect to Analytics in the Site Kit Dashboard. I jump through my authroizations at accounts.google.com and get redirected back to wp-admin, but with the wrong redirect address (https://apbmodern.com/wordpress/wp-admin… rather than https://apbmodern.com/wp-admin…). I’ve tried amending the redirect URL in the browser window, but I get a timed out message.

    Is there a way to resolve this and connect Site Kit? Thank you!

    Hi @bigflannel, thanks for opening a support topic and for sharing the information you have. This looks like an issue with your site records due to your migration and having the new WP directory.

    As you have already tried the Site Kit reset, one thing you can do to resolve this is to add a www prefix for your site. This would mean having to keep that prefix going forward for your site which I appreciate may not be a viable option for you.

    If the above isn’t an option for you then let me know and we can take a look at the records on the service side and fix/reset them which should then allow you to complete the Site Kit setup.

    Hi Adam

    Thank you but unfortunately, running the site at www is not an option. I actually have three sites in the same situation:

    https://apbmodern.com
    https://rvpsychotherapy.nyc
    https://michaelputland.com

    Can you take a look at the records on the service side for all 3? Let me know if you need anything from me.

    I am also in process of moving more sites that will have the same issue. Is there a way to do this without having you guys reset at your end?

    @bigflannel No problem, I will pass these on to the internal team to check for you. This may take some time but as soon as I have heard back I will update you on these.

    With regards to the other sites that you haven’t moved over yet, if you first perform a Site Kit reset on them before moving them over then this should reset the credentials on the service and allow you to set up on the new environment. Please do let me know however if you run into any further issues with these and we can of course help with those too.

    Hi Adam

    I just moved another site to wordpress.com hosting.

    I Reset Site Kit before migration in the site to be migrated, but I get the same issue when I try to connect to Site Kit from the migrated site, I land back on WordPress login after authorizing with Google but the login fails because the redirect address still has ‘/wordpress/’ in it.

    I appreciate the support very much, but when you say some time, how long do you mean roughly? Days / weeks? I might just install the Analytics code manually and delete the Site Kit plugin.

    Quick update. I installed the analytics tag manually on upstatemetalsales.com but would like to use Site Kit. michaelputland.com is showing real time data even though Site Kit is not connected, somehow the plugin is still working. No data is showing for apbmodern.com and rvpsychotherpay.nyc.

    @bigflannel Thanks for your updates. I should have an update for you today or tomorrow with regards to the sites you have mentioned. I appreciate the frustration here and we will see why this may be happening.

    If you perform another migration in the meantime could you also remove the Site Kit plugin after the reset as well as removing the Site Kit folder which you can access via FTP or through your hosting control panel.

    As soon as your records have been checked I will share an update with you.

    Hi Adam

    I moved another site over whose wp-admin address has changed. I reset Site Kit then deleted the plugin in wp-admin and checked it was deleted via ftp. It was. On migration, I still get the issue where Google authorization redirects to the old wp-admin address.

    I am having issues reconnecting with these sites:

    rvpsychotherapy.nyc (I had the URL wrong earlier in this thread)
    apbmodern.com
    michaelputland.com
    upstatemetalsales.com
    movementsciencemadesimple.com

    Any updates on resetting at your end greatly appreciated.

    @bigflannel We have now corrected all three site records, removing the “/wordpress” path which is no longer in use. The sites this has been done on are:

    Thank you. Those three sites all have Site Kit installed and it is working well.

    Do you think the plugin will be developed so that I don’t need to contact you guys when migrating if my wp-admin address changes? Reset and delete did not solve the issue.

    @bigflannel Thanks for confirming this and glad to hear you now have Site Kit set up on those sites. With regards to your other sites, could you please share with me the exact steps you’re following as well as a recording of you following these steps. I’d just like to make sure we’re not missing anything here and would like to help make this as seamless as possible for you when migrating sites.

    I thought I had responded to this ticket via email. I think I am losing my marbles!

    I tried to move a site yesterday (laboskdesign.com) and followed these steps:

    It’s wp-admin address changed from:

    https://laboskdesign.com/wordpress/wp-admin

    To:

    https://laboskdesign.com/wp-admin.

    Before migration (done using Migrate Guru) I reset Site Kit in Tools / Available Tools. I then deleted the plugin in wp-admin and then checked it was deleted from the folder wp-content/plugins.

    After the migration was complete, and the domain pointed at the new hosting, I reinstalled Site Kit in wp-admin on the new host at the domain laboskdesign.com <https://laboskdesign.com/> and went through the authorizations. I land back at the wordpress login but with wordpress in the redirect URL, the login fails.

    I have screen captures of all this. Can I send you these without them being posted here? I would rather not put some of what can be seen in public.

    I also just moved karsh.org and it has a similar issue. I went through the same steps as above, but reset Site Kit in Site Kit settings before deleting the plugin.

    These sites need correcting:

    upstatemetalsales.com
    movementsciencemadesimple.com
    laboskdesign.com
    karsh.org

    And I can send the video screen captures somehere if you let me know!

    I completed the form with the site information and also added a wetransfer link to download screengrab video of my resetting, deleting, then reinstalling the plugin after migration.

    Before I do this, can I first check with you that when migrating your websites, the URL remains the same apart from the /wordpress directory which is removed after the migration takes place. Is that correct? And you are performing the Site Kit reset prior to the migration which is where you then run into your issue when trying to set it back up?

    Hi Adam

    Thank you.

    The main domain remains the same (one did go from from https://www to https://) but otherwise, the only change is the location of the wordpress install, and therefore the location of wp-admin. It was https://domain.com/wordpress/wp-admin and is now https://domain.com/wp-admin. I am migrating to wordpress.com hosting. So much of WordPress core is a symlinked folder I believe. The symlink for eveything but the wp-content folder is _wp_. The wp-content folder is in the webroot.

    I am performing the Site Kit reset prior to the migration then run into the issue when trying to set it back up on the new host.
