Can’t choose search console profile
-
Hello WordPress members,
I installed Google Site kit but there is one problem, I can’t select a search console profile. I can just click allow so the plugin will create a new profile for me while I already have one.

@nesoor Thanks for reporting. As mentioned in this support topic there is an open GitHub issue in relation to this. Having said that it would be great to get more information on your site to figure out why your existing property is not being recognised. Can you inform me of the following, or add the information to the GitHub issue:
– How have you verified that domain in Search Console
– Do you have matching URLs in the general settings URLs option of your WordPress install?
– Your URL or Site Health informationHello James,
I have verified how Google recommended it by domain (DNS).
Yes I have matching URLs (https://www.).Can I send the “site health information” without domainname for privacy reasons.
@nesoor Yes, you can share your Site Health info here without the URL. If you want to attempt setup again you can try removing any variation of that property from within Search Console before resetting Site Kit and completing setup again.
Hey @jamesosborne
I don’t have any variation because that is not possible when using domain (DNS) verification. The domain (DNS) verification is all-in-one. https://, https://, https://www and https://www.Site health:

@nesoor Thanks for the update. It may require some additional testing from our site, there is also this GitHub issue open which you can keep track of.
For additional information which may assist in troubleshooting can you inform me of the following:
– Are you setting up Site Kit using the same Google account which has access to that property in Search Console
– Have you been able to setup Site Kit using any other existing Search Console property/domain?Hey @jamesosborne
Yes I use the account that has access to that property.
I just have one account at the moment/All my websites all connected by domain verification.
So all websites have the exact same issue.@nesoor Thanks for the update. Can you open your search console and compare the properties added by clicking on the select property dropdown? Please inform me if they match or differ in protocol and www prefix.
Hello @jamesosborne
Thanks for your reply.
All my domains are connected by domain verification (DNS) so that means that every domain is listed as “domain.com” without http, https, https://www. or https://www.
However because its connected by domain (DNS) everything above is included but is not visible.
Just to make sure you understand me, do you know what domain (DNS) verification is and how it works ?@nesoor Thanks for the response. I’m aware of DNS verification, if it’s ok with you we can attempt setup again following the steps below:
1. Remove the Search Console property
2. Unverify ownership using this link for all versions listed for your domain. You’ll need to remove any existing verification methods also to unverify.
3. Reset the Site Kit plugin before attempting setup againHey @jamesosborne
If I delete the property all my statistics are gone right ?
If this will be the case I cannot delete the property.@nesoor I understand your concern on existing data. If you follow the steps above your existing data should not be lost. You can add another owner to that property from within Search Console to be sure, before following the steps above.
If you want to share your URL we can also see if we notice anything on our site which may be impacting setup. Thanks for the patience.
Hey @jamesosborne
I really appreciate your help but I think I rather wait until the plugin gets fixed.
My customers statistics are important and I don’t want to use it a test project.@nesoor No problem, sorry we couldn’t be of more assistance. There has been an update to the plugin if you want to attempt setup using the latest version (1.2.0).
I can also discuss your case with the team and see if there is anything else we can do to assist. We may require your URL for further testing if so.
@nesoor Just to keep you in the loop you can keep track of the below GitHub issue, which should address this issue:
https://github.com/google/site-kit-wp/issues/325I will keep you posted here once I have an update. We can then attempt setup once more.
Hey @jamesosborne
Thanks I appreciate that !
