I am the designer of the Sliding Door theme.

It is not showing in the theme repository.
If you search ‘sliding door’ it is not found.
It seems to be there, but invisible!
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks,
Wayne
I love the sliding door theme for my website: https://www.easterncoyoteresearch.com. However, the new version of WordPress (5.9 incl. 5.9.2) has caused major issues including:
1. Not liking when I save on Blocks… so I switched to classic editor to fix that.
2. It does not allow me to update an image as a widget or just into my website in general.
3. It doesn’t allow me to organize the menu. The screen just goes blank when I try to add to it.
This is frustrating as I love SlidingDoor and don’t want to have to leave this Theme. Thanks in advance.
On my site running WordPress 5.5.1 it’s telling me to update my php (currently 7.0.15) but if I update the page breaks as the css does not appear to be supported. If I do not update, appears my widgets can no longer be accessed or updated. As I see there has been no activity on this theme for 2 years assuming it’s now dead.
Disappointing as I’ve really enjoyed using this theme for our community centre.
In reply to this thread which is closed:
The “item-names” given in the settings to each slider-menu-item are not used by the theme at all; in fact, the name of each menu-item is “embedded” directly in the “featured image” of each page.
Now, I am going to add a second language to my web site and having the problem to translate the slider-menu-item-names because they are “embedded” in the pictures.
I agree.
But a lot of people prefer it this way where the headings are in the images. It allows them to do tricks like put the heading under the hidden bit of the image or turn the heading sideways.
If you look at the theme history in version 1.8 I implemented exactly what you are talking about, so that the headings were generated and superimposed on top of the pictures. But for some reason this was removed. So if you download an older version of the theme you might be able to find a version that has what you are after. I can’t remember which version of the theme that it went back to the old way of doing it, but it might have been 2.6. I can’t remember it was so long ago sorry!
But if you have a look at version 1.8 you will be able to see that it generated the headings on the fly and maybe you can grab some code out of that that will fix the problem.

Hello.
I am using Sliding Door theme and am very happy with it.
In the settings of the theme, each slider-menu-item is identified by an “item-name” and related to a “source-page”. The “featured image” of the source-page of each menu item, is displayed on the web site as item of the slider-menu.
How can I fix this? Is it possible to tell the theme to use the names in the settings which can be displayed on the picture of the slider-menu-item?
Hi, I’m having problems with wordpress gallery (not plugin): when I click on a gallery image, it opens wide screen, with black background, but I can’t see scroll buttons. So I need to go back to the gallery to browse next image.
Once scroll buttons were shown, so I upgraded both WordPress and theme (Sliding Door), but it did not work.
How can I fix this problem?
Thanks
I am unable to make the sliding navigation use https://. It is causing the site to be not fully secure. I have deleted it and added it again and still the links do not use the https://. Any ideas?
I havr tried for months to upload images to each sliding page. The original blog images from the 5 Sliding Door theme are still in use, at least 3 of them, but I cannot add more images. I have just realized that I had some categories instead of pages, so I was able to add pages, and edit them, and I have even added an image, but the image will not display in the home page of my blog. What am I doing wrong?
Hi!
I’m helping out a friend who uses the sliding door theme. We are trying to change the order in which te pages in the sliding door menu are shown, but nothing seems to work. We’ve tried via Appearance > Menu’s and via the theme Customizer. We can change the order in the customizer, but the order remains the same when we check the website.
Is this a known problem? With a known solution? ??
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I love this theme and rebuilt a site so I could use the newest WP-version and the newest theme-vesion. Everything works fine. However: In the old version, the seven menu-pictures were equaly wide (as long as you didn’t click one). But now the first menu-picture is already showing in full width. Can I change this back to the former equal width?
Thx!
Hi,
I installed and extensively modified the style.css of Sliding Door (SD) 2.3.1 and it is currently running on WP 3.2.1
I didn’t understand child themes back then and SD only had the Black version.
So, I just basically hacked the style.css to render a White SD theme. I haven’t done any upgrading since then, because I knew I’d have to do a lot of CSS work to produce a child theme as well as whatever else might go wrong in an upgrade.
Now, 5+ yrs later, I need to move the site to a different host and Updraft doesn’t move the WP part, and needs a WP environment on the new server to do it the Updraft way (the easy way). I figured that meant it was a darn good time to upgrade everything prior to the move and have a fresh WP 4.6 on the new machine to restore the Updraft backup on.
So, reading here, I see that I should upgrade SD first. Since there is now a White SD, I figured I could upgrade and then switch to the White SD, then do the WP upgrade to 4.6. all on the current server.
Then, do the Updraft thing and put it on the fresh install of WP 4.6 on the new server. Then, do my child theme stuff, on the new machine. Since it will be White, it won’t take as long to do the child theme, I’m thinking.
Sounds like a plan, right? Is it a good plan? What is likely to go wrong? What do I need to watch out for?
Upgrading SD 2.3.1 to 3.2.4
Upgrading WP 3.2.1 to 4.6
Any advice would be much appreciated. The website is https://www.darlingtonmutual.com
Thanks!
Stephen
I went to upgrade my site yesterday before playing with some plugins and I received one of the dreaded fatal error messages. My webhost says it’s because the theme is not compatible with 4.5.2. Is this true? If so, are there plans to upgrade the theme as well?
I am trying to edit a site using the Sliding Doors theme, and it is showing Categories on the right hand side of the site. It must be showing a secondary widget, however when I go into the secondary widget, there is nothing in there. Or is it showing the Categories from some where else? How do I turn this third column off? The site in question is https://ssupholstery.com
I got the sliding doors to function correctly, but would like to make this a two column, not three. The menu on the left is OK, but just want to get rid of the Categories
My client “broke” the theme after WP update to 4.4.2. I backed up the history and got the site back up, but the sliding door is the default images and links again. I put this site up several years ago, and altered the links in the function.php file. Trying NOT to do that again, because I don’t want to go through this again. Where do you change the images and the links for the menu in this theme? I saw the customize menu, and I can do that, but how do you change the images?

My Site is https://echoesofsinatra.com
I want to add an additional 8th image to the sliders. I read all I can find and have tried everything. The additional slider should be Calendar. See my comments below indicated with **
Here’s what I tried from (https://mac-host.com/support/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4&start=60):
You have to rewrite 2 files. You can do that with the application like smultron or your prefered Text Editor Software.
1/ functions.php (in the “sliding-door” theme folder)
2/ imageMenu.css (in the “imagemenu” folder who is in the “sliding-door” theme folder)
So, download this 2 files on you computer.
First, make a copy of those two files before edit them. It’s very important, because if you made a mistake, you can re-upload the old not modified file in their respectives folder.
1/ In the imageMenu.css, change the ligne 43 (it’s the line of the width of the ” #imageMenu ul li a “. IMPORTANT. Don’t change another line…
By default, it’s writte : width:133px;
To add one image on the slide, I writte 116px on the ligne 43 instead of 133px.
(I try with 114px, with115 px, but it made a slide to short for me. The good for me was 116px. When I put 117px, the 8th slide disappears.
Perhaps you have to try 114px, 115px or 116px …
That’s all for this file. Save it and upload it in the “imagemenu” folder who is in the “sliding-door” theme folder with your ftp connection. ** tried all of this and left it at 116px.
2/ In the function.php file, you can see at the line 306 and 307 :
306
slidingdoor
307 “;
Well…
Add this line between the 306 and the 307:

slidingdoor ** Of course these line numbers have changed to 366 & 367.
So, now you have :
306
slidingdoor
307
slidingdoor
** Of course I changed the XXXXX to the proper info.
308 “;
That’s all for this file. Save it and upload it in the “sliding-door” theme folder with your ftp connection.
Don’t forget to add an image (named : 8.jpg) in the image folder who is in the image “menufolder” of the “sliding-door” theme folder.
And that’s all. Go to your site, refresh the page and agree this…
Well, I’ve looked elsewhere as well, the style.css sheet, the header.php, elsewhere in the function.php files and can’t find any other reference to the number of slide images. I updated the menu in the style from within WordPress, I uploaded 8.jpg into imagemenu/images via my ftp, I loaded the page to be addressed by the new slide and selected the featured image. The length of the slider bar grew, but no 8th image appears. If I reorder my menu, always the last menu entry image doesn’t show in the sliders.
HELP PLEASE I love the style!!

hi.. after i update sliding door and wordpress to 4.4 , my cpu usage become so high and hit 100%
IMPORTANT: Please upgrade the Sliding Door theme BEFORE you upgrade to wordpress 4.4
WordPress 4.4 have added a completely new function to wordpress that has the same name as a function I was using in my Sliding door theme!!!!
This causes a clash with the sliding door theme, which has now been fixed. I’m sorry it took 4 days I wasn’t aware it was happening till I looked at my own website.
Please upgrade the theme ASAP if you are thinking of upgrading to wordpress 4.4
If you have already upgraded, and it is broken, you need to ftp to your install, and manually upgrade the theme.
Thanks,
Wayne
WordPress 4.4 function get_the_post_thumbnail_url() found in theme file functions.php conflicts with a core function now found in:
Conflicting function name: get_the_post_thumbnail_url()
WordPress core file: ./wp-includes/post-thumbnail-template.php
Your theme file: ./wp-content/themes/sliding-door/functions.php
I simply renamed it and upgraded the site to WordPress 4.4
While awaiting a fix from the theme author, simply changing the name of the function to get_the_post_thumbnail_url1() and changing the two references as follows
3 changes to sliding-door/functions.php :
function name: line 211
function call: line 246
function call: line 270
choose a non-conflicting function name, like sliding_theme_get_the_post_thumbnail_url()
