I work in a very important radio from my country. We have 800.000 pageviews monthly in the old site. Well… let’s make this history short… Apache crash every half an our, 100% cpu, very slow…
Well… the server we have used to serve at least 8 sites (MSSQL, ASP), 3 millon pageviews monthly. So I guess WordPress is not the best option to very popular sites like your.

I know… I wrote here because maybe I’m doing something wrong with WordPress… And maybe one of you had same experience that I… Maybe I’m forgetting something.

I’m trying to have a “news block” in some place of homepage and publish in this space the lasts N° post from a “news” category.

Something like this:

BELOW…
All the posts published
except A category

Actually, I will create my own template… My question is about the code that I need to publish the lasts posts from an specific category at blog’s homepage in addition to the post of other categories. I don’t have a lot of programming skills. Can anybody help me to find the right code to do that?

Very nice work… Actually, I would like to know how you did it to show posts the way you do: inside blocks, in diferent places.

Im having the same problem and I use the script that appears above…
The page shows the number 118.

PHP 5.2.0, MySql 5.0.27, IIS 6.0

Following some instructions published in this forums, I put a code that shows the mysql error… that’s what I obtained:

Error: Access denied for user ‘wordpress’@’localhost’ (using password: YES);

I made those changes, but nothing…
I’m still getting the same error message.
Another thing: PHP does recognize MySQL. This info appears with phpinfo
