I just learned a bunch about the difference between categories and tags. Fortunately (depending on how you look at it), I cannot add any new categories either.

Here is something odd though, from the Dashboard screen, the quickpress option DOES allow me to add media files to a post. This sounds like a temporary solution, but if I need to edit that post and add more media, I’m hosed.

Upgraded to 2.8.3, and still having the same problems.

I have the same problem man. Somebody found an answer, but I don’t know what it is.

I just tried to create it with a text editor. (Sorry if that is totally wrong)

I uploaded it and renamed it. Now I get a 500 internal server error.

To clarify: I have created a file named .htaccess and it is seemingly empty. Is there a place where I could cut and paste the appropriate text into it with my text editor? I am assuming that it should not be blank.

I just created a new file, but I’m not sure what needs to be in it. Do you edit yours in some sort of text editor?

Thanks! I am on a Mac actually. I am using Filezilla, and I can’t find it on the server either. Maybe that’s the reason for some of my other problems on WordPress. How do you access the file from your server?

Ok, same problems in 2.6. My pages show up in my dashboard, but i get a 404 not found error when I try to view them in my browser. My index shows up fine. WTF?

I know. I think I just need something that works for me right now until I have the time or money to pay someone to help me fix what is broken. I can’t seem to find a file called .htaccess that is supposed to help me because I am on a 1 and 1 server.

Why on earth can’t I find the .htaccess file? I feel like I’ve looked everywhere!

I had the same problem before I started messing around to try and fix it. Now, my site is down and I’m clueless as to how to fix it.

I deleted everything but my content folder. Downloaded the new 2.8.1. Replaced my content folder. Uploaded everything. When I try to install wordpress, I get this error:

Fatal error: Class wp_widget_pages: Cannot inherit from undefined class wp_widget in /homepages/24/d221003236/htdocs/zacparsons/wp-includes/default-widgets.php on line 15

Does this help at all?
