Grateful that you’re willing to consider suggestions ??

This is all way above my pay grade, but something near the top of the page – Subject being a link, or a collapsing TOC drop-down, or ??? – that makes it easy to pop back to the start.

My articles have tended to have large/long pages lately and the TOC isn’t visible until a reader finds their way to the bottom. Putting the TOC at the top (an option now) can help but can affect page readability – depending on content and formatting.

thanks and regards,
Z.

1.5.7 did fix it. Thank you!

I’ll give that a try. Thank you.

Off-topic: you should add a paragraph for the EFI on bootable flash drives… it’a really interesting topic ??

If you don’t mind a little more OT, please elaborate. I discuss EFI bootability in that article. What am I missing?

I admit the article is kind of messy ATM – maybe it’s there somewhere but hard to find.

Many thanks,
Z.

Progress!

I hand-edited via the text editor and removed the …/ that was wrapping the nextpage lines (put in by the visual editor???) in my “bad” article and things are working ?? 1st page of the article is on the main page, and fonts are OK. Thanks!

Another however ?? If I post an article that’s just your simple template _above_ my long multipage article, the long article is no longer multipage on the home page. It is multipage once I click to access the article.

Trying to rule out more issues with the big article, I’ve posted two tiny ones that are just your simple template. The top one seems to break home-page multipaging for the next article – that is, the whole article shows on the main page.

I’ll leave all the posts visible for now, if you have time/inclination to have a look.

I’m very grateful to you for sticking with me on this.

Regards,
Z.

I was just about to repeat that test ??

If I create an article with your tiny template things work as expected ?? The intro shows up on the main page, and fonts are as they should be.

However – the following post on the main page (the one that’s giving me trouble) is no longer multipage. It’s one long article.

In the text editor I see some ... wrappers around the nextpage statements in my “bad” article. I’ll try removing them, but they seem to be balanced, FWIW.

Many thanks,
Z.

Sorry, I posted too soon ?? If I add the [nextpage title=”intro”] to the top of the article, the home page fonts are OK, but there’s no text for the article on the main page.

If I click on the title, I see another blank Intro page, and there are two “Intro” entries in the table of contents.

I guess I don’t really know how to use the plugin correctly.

Thanks,
Z.

Sergio,

Thanks for following up on this. This is interesting:

If I add [nextpage title=”intro”] to the top of the article, the main page fonts are OK. If I leave it out, the plugin seems to default the 1st page to “Intro”, and the main page fonts are broken.

I wasn’t using a “nextpage” at the top of the article since it didn’t seem to be necessary.

Does this help point at what is getting sideways?

Thanks again,
Z.

I tried with updated and unmodified Twenty Eleven and Twenty Fourteen and still see the switch to courier after the first post in the home page.

I’m unsure how to save my modified Twenty Ten and install a clean one. Is it useful given the above?

[edit] Reran the plugins test: all plugins deactivated, selected updated unmodified Twenty Twelve theme – no courier on home page. Activated Multi-page plugin – courier from 2nd post on.

Thanks,
Z.

Hi,

Many thanks for the quick reply! I deactivated all plugins. Fonts were OK. Activated only multipage and the problem returned ??

What else can I try?

Thanks again,
Z.

Did you ever get this figured out? I’m having the same issue and I’m almost 99% sure its a server config issue too.

Nope ?? My ISP says it’s WordPress issue, and you see what the opinion is here.

I’m just living with it for now. I could do some copy/change permissions/paste to get rid of the existing issue, but it would just come back the next time ??

Hey, I forgot my manners ?? Thanks for the quick reply!

I was beginning to suspect a server/Apache configuration issue. Something has changed since it didn’t do this previously.

I have an email in to my ISP.

Thanks again!

Uploads _are_ working.

The problem is that WordPress (or Apache) created folders owned by “nobody” and I can’t modify that.

Maybe I’m not understanding your reply. Will changing permissions enable me to chown those folders? I’ve tried that with no success.
