Update.
Since most of you will probably think that it’s a caching issue, short information:

1. There are no caching plugins on the site
2. Cleared browser cache and even tried to update from two different computers. Same result…

Since I am using an older version of the plugin (v3.3.6) which is no more supported in combination with email-before-download plugin, please dissregard my question.
I’ll have to find another solution.

Yeah… my fault probably. file_get_contents is making a http request for the .json file and I’ve closed the site with .htpassword authentication while developing.

I can confirm this behavior. It is a problem for me too.
