Update – It turns out that open_basedir had another file specified for tmp usage, (/var/tmp) so after we added /tmp to it 1.4 is working OK. I don’t quite understand this behavior since the permissions on /var/tmp should have allowed the webserver user to write what it needed.
I don’t know what version we were at before going to 1.4 because we usually keep pretty current (I reverted back to 1.0.2 since I had that folder handy and it worked).
Thanks for your help, it seems like this is not a common issue.

Still can’t get it to work on our multisite.
    A few notes:
On our standalone site, it works fine even with slashes in the generated hash.
On our multisite, it fails with 404 with no slashes in the hash.

What code did you use to register the plugin? That is, what did the function hooked to “plugins_loaded” actually do?

Can you describe the tinkering you did (not sure if it would apply in our case, but worth a try) – or what diagnostics should I use to troubleshoot? Our logs show the 404, but no particular errors.

Thanks very much for your reply.
As far as registering the plugin: it worked for me on the multisite up to the point of the download, without hooking on “plugins_loaded” – do you have it in the “must use” directory, or the regular plugin directory(where it needs to be explicitly enabled per site)?

I will work through your comments and let you know what I find.

Having the same issue (404 – page not found) after installing V1.0.2
I have not gotten it to work at all on my dev system.
Tried refreshing permalinks and deactivating/activating the plugin, but still getting 404

Can you suggest anything else to try?

    thanks

I suspect the actual problem is in the widget front end since the shortcode for the event list widget works [ftcalendar_list]. I haven’t tried the thumbnail calendar shortcode. I’m working around the problem by using the shortcode in a textbox widget and doing the styling in my own css. Examples of how to use the widget shortcodes are in the FT Calendar Help, in the FT Calendar menu on the WP dashboard.
    I hope this helps.

    Having the same problem.
    Updated to WP 4.4.1
    Theme is the same.
When you click on checkboxes to select which calendars to display in widget and then click save, the checkboxes revert to unchecked. Nothing is displayed by the widget. Other fields on the widget form are saved but the calendar checkboxes always become unchecked.
The main calendar (via the ftcalendar shortcode) displays correctly.
No link to display – all you see is blank space in the sidebar.
