In reply to: [Automatically Paginate Posts] Wrong word counts since last updateAn update: I’ve rolled back to version 0.2, thanks to the WP Rollback plugin, and that fixed the pagination problem noted above. It would be super if you could look into your version 0.3.x to fix what went wrong! Meanwhile, I’ll stick with the older version, which works well. Thank you for providing a useful tool.

In reply to: [footnotes] How to re-hide accessibility captions for sighted users? Thanks so much for the quick reply, @rumperuu! I’ve downgraded to 2.7.0 but unfortunately I’m still getting the double “References”. Strangely, the issue didn’t pop up on my dev site until 2.7.1 but it was already a problem on my live site before the upgrade today. So I think it must have crept in in an earlier version and I just didn’t notice it right away. Suggestions?

In reply to: [Widget Context] Show/Hide per taxonomy term (category, tag, &c.)?Hi again @kasparsd,
back in October I did in fact make a slightly modified version of the plugin with the added feature. Is there some way I could submit those modifications to you for inclusion in the official plugin?
Regards,
AlisonThanks so much, Jory — I installed the update the day it was released and was very glad to see everything working again. Thanks for all your hard work to resolve the compatibility issues so promptly!
All best,
AlisonHi Jory (@keraweb),
thanks for your reply (and thanks @diegarf for posting the question). Any guess as to when the next update might be released? If I’m understanding correctly, this next version should also solve the problem of the “Add New” modal for relationship fields coming up blank. Yes? Hope so, anyway! I’m sorry to say I’m not experienced enough with using github to know how to try out your beta version.
Thanks,

In reply to: [Widget Context] Show/Hide per taxonomy term (category, tag, &c.)?Thanks for the very fast reply! I guess will have to use a different plugin for now, though, since it sounds like you won’t be able to add the feature any time soon.
Or — maybe there’s a way I can help with the development of this feature? Conceptually I don’t think it’s too complex. I picture another pair of fields like the target url fields, but with one taxonomy_name:term_name per line instead of the slug. On the back end, then, would be a check for has_term. Perhaps if I take a look at the plugin code and send you a draft of some revisions for you to consider?

In reply to: [WooCommerce] WooCommerce 404 Error on All PagesHi Jesse,
one of my sites has also been having this problem. I first noted it on October 7. Resetting the permalinks did fix the issue, but only temporarily. Everything was fine for a few days and then it all broke again. Fixed, again, by re-saving the unchanged permalink settings, but it seems very likely that it will happen again, based on this pattern. Some of the pages threw 404 errors while some redirected automatically to other pages with slugs similar to the product/product-category slugs. I suspect there may be some kind of conflict with Jetpack, since that plugin was updated on 10/7. The problem did NOT arise on my dev/sandbox site, which has a very similar setup but no Jetpack.
Thanks for your help with this troublesome issue.

In reply to: [Timely All-in-One Events Calendar] Activation required…why? Some other options to consider — depending on your specific requirements — are Events Manager and The Events Calendar.
Events Manager seems to be very well built and well supported, though it’s a no-frills kind of plugin and will probably require a fair amount of CSS work to make it look right on your site. I’m only in the testing phase so far on my own site, but my impression so far is that it’s my number one recommendation for anyone who needs a calendar with solid recurring events support and that won’t make customization a nightmare.
The Events Calendar looks good out of the box, but I’ve run into a number of bugs related to calendar navigation, and their support falls short of expectations (I’ve been using the Pro Version). Also, if you need to rely heavily on the Recurring Events feature BEWARE — lots of problems there, in terms of performance and functioning.
According to the main plugin page on www.remarpro.com, there are currently 100,000+ active installations of this plugin. Even if the company doesn’t plan to support/develop it any further, surely they’re not going to break it for everyone before they drop it?!
I’m just about to switch a large site over to use this calendar, but now I think perhaps I’d better resume researching the alternatives. If anyone has suggestions, please let us all know.
Timely seems to be moving towards only supporting a hosted calendar which can be embedded in WordPress sites, but that won’t work at all for my needs. I need a WP-native calendar so that I can extend the Event post type with custom fields, include events in search results, and so on.

In reply to: [Timely All-in-One Events Calendar] Does everything we need, and then some!Hi Wendy,
so glad to hear it has worked well for you for the long term. I’m about to switch my site over to this calendar but am very concerned about the recent reports of the plugin breaking upon installation of the latest update. Would you mind letting me know if you’ve updated your site to use 2.6.0, and if so, have you had any problems?
Thanks,
AlisonHi @webnus, I’m having this problem also — the MEC plugin appears to conflict with “Advanced Custom Fields Pro” Version 5.8.6.
I’ve put your fix in place with the Custom CSS and that solved the problem, but of course a fix to the plugin itself in the next update would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
I was having the same problem: unable to activate a custom theme, though the less.sha1.map.php is present. Turns out it was because my theme folder had a numeral in the directory name, and apparently the plugin was removing it in some kind of sanitizing operation and then couldn’t find the files.
So, a word of warning: for anyone else who might be tempted to name their custom theme something like
ai1mytheme
— don’t do it! That digit will cause trouble!Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Gitium] Current stability assessment?Ok, thanks for the info!
P.S. And actually even for that first category no products are displaying in the widget, though there twenty-eight items in the category, all of which are set to display on shop pages and in search results…
Hmm there seems to be a new problem, though: the category selected from the drop down menu in the widget defaults to the first category no matter what. That is, if I select a different category from the list, when I click the “Save” button it reverts to the first one in the list. I’ve tested it using the Healthcheck & Troubleshooting plugin (running the default theme and with all other plugins disabled except for WooCommerce); it doesn’t appear to be a plugin conflict, but rather an issue with the List Products By Category Widget. Suggestions?
All best,
Alison
