In reply to: [Join My Multisite] Title of form under subsitesWhen you put it that way I guess it makes sense.
My intention was not to hide full disclosure, but to make it less confusing to the user.
In my case I will be changing it to something like “Create your account on this site”.
Just as an example, what if the main Network site is selling a membership for subsites and let’s say a teacher joins to have one place for her classroom to go to communicate with her and other classmates. When the classmates go to her site at thebestteacher.com (because she mapped here domain to the subdomain of the subsite) to signup to become a user and right above the form it says “Create your account on subsitesrus.com”. That would make a user think twice about where they are.
I know where your coming from, but in my case I can’t see how showing the name of the subsite would interfere with full disclosure.
Thanks Mika for the time you dedicated to this plugin and the support you give people like me.
Edit:
Ooooo I just thought of a good one I can use “Become a member of this site”
I like that.
That’s the one.Yes I know.
I think she was going for a vintage look.Yes, In join my multisite’s reg form it does not have “gimme a site” if you use it’s shortcode. Which is perfect.
F.Y.I. JMM’s settings page is under the users menu in admin.
Hey echoleaf, I also have a similar question about PMpro protecting wp-signup out here in limbo waiting to be answered. So I thought I would “try” to help you.
About the ‘Registration has been disabled’, go into your Network Admin > Settings > Network Setting and make sure your Registration Settings are set to “Both sites and user accounts can be registered”. That should fix the disabled message, unless I totally misunderstood your question. In that case sorry.
How would someone sign up to become a user (subscriber) of a subsite without going through the main site or dealing with PMP?
MU does not support that, BUT there is a great plugin called “Join my Multisite” that I use for that very reason. Check it out, it’s really good and the Developer is awesome. She is eager to help without hiding behind a paywall.
Oh No he di-nt.
JK!
Hope this helps.
Also how do we make sure no one uses wp-signup to sign up for a free site in MU?
Should PMpro be network activated or just main site?
Will it work on just the main site? Wouldn’t that make it so it’s not available for use on subsites (which is what I want)?Thank you.
Never mind, I got the help else where.
Thanks for trying though.
I don’t think you read my question right or I just did a bad job at describing the problem.
I was trying to say that wp-signup was not being redirected.
With pmpro activated and set up, whenever anyone goes to wp-signup the regular register form comes up and is not redirected to the levels page.
PMpro is not redirecting the register page to the PMPro levels page.
The regular wordpress register and “give me a site” form is showing which in turn let’s users not go through the membership pay process.I hope this is not the default process for pmpro.
add_filter('pmpro_register_redirect', '__return_false');
Where does that line of code go?
Just that one line will do what I am asking? Thanks for your time and help.

In reply to: [Join My Multisite] Possible to take out the "give me a site" checkbox?Ok I have reinstalled another new multisite and started all over again.
Now, I have no plugins installed except JMM.
When I go to register on a subsite as a new user, If i click on the register button that is in the widget box (The JMM widget) it redirects me to the main site register box and that has an option to get a new site (that was my original problem). No Good.
If I open the register page I set up with the JMM shortcode it gives me the JMM register form without a “give me a new site” box, like it should, but when I fill in the form with a user and email and hit submit it redirects me back to the main site’s register form with the “give me a new site” box.
The user and email I just submitted does not register because I never get a email. Thanks Mika for the help.

In reply to: [Join My Multisite] Not getting password in email.Oh, Ok then.
I deactivated BP and guess what, now JMM works fine.
Go figure.
Well that sucks, can’t use BP with it.
Off to start all over again to find a solution.
Thank you very much Mika for all your time and help.

In reply to: [Join My Multisite] Not getting password in email.Ok I think I know now where it’s going wrong.
I deactivated everything and still no password, but the difference between JMM and WP register is that when I register with WP I enter a password during signup and with JMM I do not I just enter user and email.
Is that the norm for JMM?
What is confusing is that after I activate through email link with JMM the page that says “Your account is now active!” in WP, below that it also says
“Your account was activated successfully! You can now log in with the username and password you provided when you signed up.”
The password you provied when you signed up?
When I sign up through JMM I never provide a password.
Should there be a password field during signup with JMM?

In reply to: [Join My Multisite] Not getting password in email. Thanks Ipstenu for your response.
“Thanks for registering! To complete the activation of your account please click the following link:”
and it show link below this and that’s it.
No password or user.
Correct, that’s what’s supposed to happen. The link should be for your specific subsite, right?
It’s not supposed to send a password until you activate. That’s how Multisite works, no changes made save to send you to the child site, and not the main site, for activation.
Forget about the link, the only problem is that it is never sending the password. Before or after the account is activated.
That can’t be what is supposed to happen. If so the user will never be able to log in because they will have no idea what the password for the account is.
So basically when I click email link it says I am already activated and when I try to log in it says I am not activated.
Are you still logged in as admin when you click the link?
Absolutely I am NOT logged in as Admin. I even said that.
Logged out of admin and tried logging into the new subsite user
Anyways, I thought I broke it down pretty good the first time.
I create a new user in the JMM reg fields (that works great) I then get the message on the next page to check my email and click the link to activate the account.
I then go into my email, and in the email there is only two lines.1. “Thanks for registering! To complete the activation of your account please click the following link:”
2. https://activation-link-going-back-to-subsite-to-activate-user.com
That link takes me back to the subsite and tells me “your account has been activated”
Great! Things are looking good….
I go back to the email account again to check to see if JMM sent another email giving me my password so I can log in to the account I just activated.
Refresh…..Refresh……Refresh…………..Refresh…………………….Refresh……………………………..Errrrrr………..Refresh…………..Well I guess it’s not going to send another email telling me my password of the account I just activated…
Now let me quote the ending of my first message to piece it all together.
I even tried going into the users under the subsite admin and changing the password to a new one in the new user account so I would have a password to use.
Logged out of admin and tried logging into the new subsite user and wp says that the user is not activated.
It should be activated because I opened the email and clicked the activation link.
After getting the not activated error I even went back into the email and clicked again and wp said that this account is already activated.
That is where I am right now.
