I tell you something: some hosts are very knowledgeable with WordPress and some not. If they are not they say they don’t support WordPress (related questions or problems). At the end of the day is not their business to answer script specific questions unless they are related to the hosting of that script.
Many of the staff over there would be able to troubleshoot .htaccess problems but if you ask about plugins conflicts and themes they might walk away from the problem.

Usually I use Genesis and the plugin works great with that framework.

In fact I was on a different host. Once I’ve moved on the same host everything went fine.
Your plugin worked perfectly: text, formatting and pictures.

both Joomla and WordPress are on the same server and account.

what actually mean “You must give access to the WordPress host on your Joomla database”?
I’m running into the same problem and the username, DB and password are correct (taken from Joomla config file)

I’m also looking to do that and I’d like to get some guidance on how to do it.
My Joomla site ranks quite well in Google and Bing and I would like not to damage the ranking.
The Joomla site is not big, it’s quite small but I would like to preserve the links…is there any good guide on how to do so?

In the meantime I found what caused that: it was about ticking the box “Force rewrite titles” in “Yoast WordPress SEO: Titles” section.
To get rid of the problem Leave it un-ticked. If you’ve managed to change <title><?php wp_title(”); ?></title> as instructed in the plugin settings do not tick the box.

Front page: H1=Site Title and h2=Article titles

Single post: H1-Article Title and h2-headings I choose to declare h2
