I’ve just tried the development version. Still the same error when AJAX in the form is ON. So I’ve switched it OFF again.

In fact, it’s OK for me to have the form without AJAX. Thus you may leave it as is ??

I have just updated to the last version. Now there is no text “Hide this form” (at least in Russian). There is only the link which can be revealed when hovering the cursor (the cursor changes from arrow to index finger).
This is in IE and from visitor’s point of view.
In Chrome there is a little square built of grey border. This is from visitor’s point of view. From the admin’s view the cross for closing appears. But with no text.

It works now. Thank you very much.
By the way I’ve noticed that when clicking the “Read more” link the linebreakes get been shown (the “Show linebreakes” checkbox is checked).

My sincere apologies for this false alarm.
I don’t know what is the reason of the problem, but it definitely isn’t what I wrote about. May be some visitors just miss spaces when typing. Anyway, I haven’t been able to reproduce it myself by just sending an entry with a lot of linebreaks.

“Moderation is enabled, but my entry is marked as checked
If a user with capability of ‘moderate_comments’ posts an entry, it will be marked as checked by default, because he can mark it as checked anyway.”

In case you have entries premoderation disabled, you can enable it at “Anti-spam” tab of “Settings” page. This is the very top checkbox.

If it can be helpful for you, my site works over HTTP but I use iThemes Security plugin and it is set to force SSL for Dashboard.

Unfortunately I’ve been unable to understand what you asked me to do. What console, what inspector?

However I tried to use IE instead of Chrome and all was working.

I noticed some things look different in IE. The fields for editing the details of the entry (such as date and time) appear only after clicking the link “Edit” while in Chrome they are always present. In IE I can switch between settings tabs while in Chrome they don’t work and I see all the settings at a single page.

Anyway, after all I have done what I needed. So I’m marking this topic as resolved.

Yes, I surely see your reasons. I have already seen support topics where people complained their reCAPTCHA not working.

Thus may be it can be a good idea – to give them the choice of two options with proper warnings about each?

If you still consider returning of reCAPTCHA unacceptable, then it seems to be a good idea to add a proper warning for users. Something like this: “WARNING: CAPTCHA may work with errors inside cached pages. If you use any caching plugin then it is strongly recommended to disable caching for your guestbook page.”

Yes, I know about this workaround. I even use this setting for some pages already. Yet I would like to keep the guestbook page being cached for faster response. Now I have switched to user anti-spam question. Though it works fine, yet I consider CAPTCHA to be more reliable method (static anti-spam question can’t protect against automated flooding attack which is intentionally targeted to your site).

Thus with Really Simple CAPTCHA I have to choose between caching and using CAPTCHA. With reCAPTCHA I didn’t have to.
