My Pro version is: 3.12.6 and the events calendar is 4.0.
If I deactivate and delete the Pro plugin from my WP backend and then download and upload the new 4.o version, will all the events that have been added be deleted?

That is a good reference.
Staying calm, even if you have taken so many of these suggested precautions and postcautions seems to be the hardest task.
As for forensics, I sure would like to know how it happened, but that is beyond my technical expertise.
