In reply to: How to add pages but not have them display in navigation menuOne more question — with this new custom menu in place, can we still add subpages that will show up when you hover over a main page’s link in the navigation menu if need be?
I’m asking because I just created a new page, and specified it to be subpage for another one, and it is not showing the drop down thing in the menu, as it used to do.

In reply to: How to add pages but not have them display in navigation menuI think I got it now! I needed to select this custom menu, not from the widget thing, but from the top left of the “menus” page.
Thank you!

In reply to: How to add pages but not have them display in navigation menuUh, I think so. I dragged it into the ‘primary widget’ area, and from there, I selected it, then clicked save. Was there something else I should have done?

In reply to: How to add pages but not have them display in navigation menuI did that already. I created a custom menu, added the pages I wanted in there, arranged them into proper order and saved it.
Then I went to widgets and dragged this custom menu into the “primary widget” location.
So far, I still don’t see this custom menu. I’ll go read that page you posted more carefully. Thanks!

In reply to: Uploading a new themeThis is the error message I get each time. I’m going to use FTP to upload it. If I do that, I go into the WordPress install, then I’m into the “themes” directory. What needs to go in here? Everything that came in the zip file, including the PSD folder and the License folder?

In reply to: Uploading a new themeYes, MindstateNL, there is some documentation included.
Within the main zip file that I downloaded, there are 3 folders:
1. Theme
2. PSD
3. LicenseWithin “Theme” folder, there is a “showtime.zip” file — that ought to be the correct file to upload — containing only the theme itself and no other documentation? (would I need to upload the other 2 items above as well?)
I did that and still get error message. The host says check with WordPress, WordPress says check the Theme vendor…. I did send the theme creator a message but no reply yet.
In general — does it sound like I am clicking on the right items?
Thanks!

In reply to: Password Protected Page Doesn't Ask for PasswordThank you! Thank you! I will try this for sure, and yes, I’ll be sure to make copies before making changes, just “in case”.

In reply to: We can't get comment feature to work!Yes, I have ticked off “allow discussion” on the member’s blog page — the only page we actually want to allow discussion.
But now, I just ticked off “allow discussion” on the Community OUtreach page — clicked “update” — and refreshed the browser — and it still does NOT show the comment field on the page. And if you view the HTML source, it still has <p class=”nocomments”>Comments are closed.</p>
Strange?

In reply to: We can't get comment feature to work!have you ticked the appropriate boxes in the ‘discussion’ field below the page editor in the ‘edit page’ page?
I’m checking that right now….

In reply to: We can't get comment feature to work!I had the validator display the markup and it shows on line 142:
<p class=”nocomments”>Comments are closed.</p>
I checked the page and I checked the page templates, but I cannot see where or how to edit this. I think this line is on all our pages — but why? and how? did it get there?
Thanks again.

In reply to: We can't get comment feature to work!Hmmm, so that duplicate line would need to be removed from the page template right? But if the extra line of code is in the page template, then the above markup error should appear on every page of the site….I’m not quite sure what to do with this info but thank you!
