So seeing the result of WP Crontrol made me suspect what the issue is. My sites are hosted on a shared server and the host turns cron jobs off on staging sites to save band width. If I want I could go in and set up a real cron job to make it work, but on these sits my clients don’t want to spend there budget for that. So I won’t worry about the staging sites. Easy Updates Manager has worked wonderfully on the live sites.

    Thanks

I’m having a similar issue but I have not moved hosts. I can log into my WordPress account, I can log into my FTP site with an FTP client. I can even log into my hosts backend control panel. When I try and log into my FTP site from inside WordPress to upgrade WordPress or a pluging WordPress can’t connect.
