  • It wouldn’t be so bad if those updates were thoroughly tested, and in the event of a bug or other issue, Elementor supported their product. But Elementor Tech Support is an oxymoron.

I don’t think you understand – when any vendor sells a software license, purchasers make a long-term decision to use that product based on the then-current software license agreement (SLA).

At the time I licensed your plugin, if a customer discontinued their subscription, there were no restrictions on the use of Elementor Pro – a developer could continue create and modify pages and posts.

I invested a considerable amount of time developing my site(s) with Elementor. While I do not need further software updates, I am legally entitled to use the software in accordance with the license granted when I purchased/last renewed my license.

Elementor has now retroactively changed the terms of the license, such that I can no longer modify pages and posts. This is not a case of simply being frustrated – Elementor is telling the developer community – we will change the license agreements anytime we want to squeeze as much revenue as we can from our customer base, because we think you’re a captive user.

But customers who cannot rely on their vendors to be ethical and reliable will find alternative solutions – just look at the other reviews in this forum that document Elementor’s arrogance towards its customers.

I had to upgrade to a premium hosting service just to get my pages and posts to load in the page editor. One huge problem is that the underlying architecture is serialized data in post meta records – Elementor will never be able to cross-ref widget usage bc it’s embedded as text in post meta.

100 agreed on company arrogance. I got so disgusted with their lack of support and boat anchor performance that I suspended my sub. They turned around and cancelled my license – with no notice.

Moving to to open source – been burned far too many times by Elementor.

I think what’s happening is that the “free ride” is over for Elementor. There are a lot of competitors out there with some excellent offerings and they don’t have predatory sales practices. Elementor believes their customers are captive and treats them as such – from horrible support to refund policies. The worst, IMO, is the renewal policy – stop renewing and they cancel your license. You read that right – they cancel your license – whether you’re running prod or not.

You ducked a bullet – I’m dead in the water and scrambling to redevelop my site with a different platform.
