I’m using Polylang.

Both version of the magazine are indexed in GoogleNews (Google Actualités, for the french version).

Currently, the News XML sitemap I feed the Search Console with is generated with the plugin News SEO by Yoast, but it includes both version, which brings errors.
The french version is not extracted and the french Google Actualités team asked me to provide a News XML sitemap specific to the french version.

News SEO by Yoast can do the trick but with WPML and not with Polylang…

Providing a XML sitemap for multilingual site seems to be a major issue, as nobody, neither in France nor abroad, is answering my posts on support forums!!!

When do you intend to release version 2.x ?

Well, sorry, but what do you mean by “only when publishing individual articles”?

When I click on Apple News in WP’s dashboard, a window open with only “Bulk actions”… abd even I pick up one article, it only show “Publish”.

Sorry to bother you but I’m currently more busy producing content that scanning the plugin.

Right, now I think we approach the solution of the issue. Apple gave me an API and informed me that our magazine was accepted in Apple News Formats, as it was already indexed its app News. I havent’t the time to check by now, as we are very busy at Cannes Film festival.

What do you mean by “check off the “Preview” checkbox when publishing” ?
I cheked all parts of the plugin board and couldn’t find any “preview” checkbox.
As far as publishing is concerned, in “bulk actions” the only choice” is publish”…
Would you mean I have to be on “Preview” in WP and publish ?

Well, if you had read my post, you’d have noticed that I mentionned having followed your advice and gave another error message

I created a second post because you had declared the first one as “resoved”, when it was not.

The thing is that your plugin doesn’t work and you should rather try to help me find a solution instead of declaring my posts “resolved” when it’s not.

Despite the plugin updating, and the modification to “yes” in use remote images, I Can’t still publish.

The error says: “There has been a error with the Api, please make sure etc., only preview allowed.

Any idea of what is wrong now?

It is confusing Google because its bots can’t extract the articles in French. The Google team wants me to provide a News XML sitemap for the French version.

Hi everybody,

I found the origin of the issue: the categories didn’t match between English and French.

I created the missing categories, updated the posts in French with the right ones, matching that of the post in English, and everything was back to normal.

Lesson: use the same categories in both languages…

While waiting an answer from you kind experts, I’ve elaborated a few guesses about the origin of the issue:

– as I am in the countryside without ADSL, (I’m working from my phone), I couldn’t create the exact equivalence between English and French categories, giving sometime the French version of a post another existing category.

Maybe the problem comes from that…

– I didn’t pay real attention to slugs, as I thought Polylang would create them; by instance: culture-fr for the French version.

– another guess: culture is written the same way in French and in English. Possible issue again ?

No, I don’t want to try this: first, I don’t know how to do it and I find it’s too complex. I’ve asked the Viewport support for an idea and I’m waiting to get their feedback, if ever they have one…

Thus am I looking for another template as ours is two years old now and I’d like to use a more recent one. If i get the same problem with the new one, I’ll look further into adding a plugin.
