Many thanks for your kind answer and sorry for the late answer.
I already deleted the plugin, to find a gain the slider and fetaured image. We don’t use a slider plugin, the slider came included in the theme Viewport.
What I’d like to understand in why the plugin had to make “more than 30 simultaneous connections” as I unsed it only once to make an instant backup copy…

In reply to: Which URL for a staging site?Hi @jnashhawkins,
Many thanks again for your kind answer.but the dev.yesicannes.com domain doesn’t resolve in DNS yet. Did you set up a DNS record for that?
This issue is evoked in the guide to create a subdomain:
“if it is a subdomain, or if the domain name or its DNS zone is managed by Infomaniak, the DNS entries and the existing entries can be updated automatically. Otherwise, make the necessary changes through your registrar or transfer the management of the domain name to Infomaniak: https://www.infomaniak.com/en/support/faq/1814”
But I don’t understand the idea behind that. My aim is to work on a pre-prod site. Why should I set up a DNS for dev.yesicannes.com as I will put the pre-production site in “maintenance mode” to avoid it being indexed by Googlebots?
Could you please help me clarify the matter in my mind?

In reply to: Which URL for a staging site?Hi @jnashhawkins,
Many thanks for your kind answer.
The problem is that I’m trying to find “whatever the URL is to the staging site”!
The issue is: what should the staging site URL be if I choose the subdomain name “dev.yesicannes.com”?

In reply to: Why does demo content spoil live site?Hi @macmanx
Sorry for the late answer. Many thanks for your explanations.
I’m still wondering how the .php instructions of the new theme overwrite the existing ones from the old template… I guess the demo content stay in the data base, but why is the architecture of the orevious theme spoilt by the coded instructions of the new?

In reply to: Why does demo content spoil live site?Hi Joy,
Many thanks for your answer. But I’m afraid you didn’t quite get my point.
First, people import demo content to be able to use a “demo site” home page layout with general feeling as a starting point to build a site. That avoids to build a news site from scratch.I purchased a new template to replace the old theme we’ve been using for years. To avoid building the new magazine from scratch, I imported the theme demo content to select the dreamed-of demo site. As I could’nt find in the theme doc how to set up the home page layout I wanted, I went back to the previous theme. Which has been messed up by the new theme demo content.
So my question is “How can a NEW theme demo content mess up a PREVIOUS live site? If you could answer this question, you’d make my day because I can’t figure out what happened.
Best regards,
P. S.: I contacted the theme author who apologized for the incomplte theme doc and gave all the missing informations. And now, I know you have to build a new site via staging through your host.

In reply to: Help needed for switching a 301 redirection offHi RossMitchell,
I modified the .htaccess file after your indications, but nothing changed, the pages keep being redirected to the “normal” pages from the “former” database…
Would you have any idea of what is wrong?

In reply to: Chaos in URLs and errors 404 following permalinks modificationsHi AshboDev,
Many thanks for your answer. I know what 404s are.
The problem is: there are thousands of bad links, generate I don’t know why.
I can’t redirect all the links like that. I have to understand where all these bad links come from – obviously from the changes in permalinks -, as shown in the two example.
Any idea ? I could’nt find an answer in Frech forums…

In reply to: [Re-add text underline and justify] Text editor won’t show the justyfy buttonHi,
Many thanks for your kind answer. I did as you mentioned and it works.
Perhaps should you simply inform users of the procedure without them to watch into the FAQ?
Regards,
