    thanks Leland
No access to file system etc.
but i would like my two blogs to be different and use different themes etc. and not only be a subdirectory of my first blog, if that is what you meant.
Seems this can be done easily with wordpress.com, to add a blog and also manage one blog to another. So am looking to do the same with .org
seems am not really understanding the multisite concept then….

    thanks Jan,
yes i have had my wordpress site for a year now and i sometimes i know stuff and sometimes i mix it all up.
i know what wordpress does but i don′t know what i need for the next step.
May seem ignorant to you but i have dealt with all this years ago and read all about it… and as i left it all dormant….now i forgot what is needed as i don′t use it.
I have jump started and learned about all this here and there, am no expert in this are, we all have our different expertise.
So yes i will read up on all this, again, and maybe forget it until i need it again.
in the meantime would be more useful if you could just tell me what i need to do for transferring to wordpress, connecting to blog, etc.
so I am not new to wordpress and i have started already, i want a similar free website, using wordpress, with what i have, what is next?
if i “abandon” my website, what to do for me not to lose my blog?
What do i have to take into account when leaving that company and going wordpress? what do i need to take care of? (have been with them for 5 years)
these questions may be simple for some but a headache for others, this is why am thankful for this forum!
    thanks

yes i got that, however, now my home page
which was a copy of the Front page has gone blank
what to do to restore it? i don′t remember if it was just a link or more than that…

Seems i got rid of the dates going into the tempera theme
, not sure if this has cleared all the dates on the blog though…
One more thing by the way, updating the wordpress version i kind of lost my “presentation page” but reading the forums i got it back changing static page to post page.
Anyway it seems it has disturbed more than one thing…
I have my Front or Presentation page again ,which is the first page when going into the blog.
However in my menu, i also have a home page, which is supposed to be the same as the presentation/front page but it has now gone blank. not sure how to solve that one.
    Any ideas? thanks

thanks Tara i did also do this, i thought if i post it in both, sometimes answers can be general or specific

I have added this to Custom Simple CSS
    .single-post .posted-on, .home .posted-on {
    display: none;
    }
    no difference though ??

how about removing ALL the dates from the blog, not only the posts
even though my theme is different….(Tempera)

this theme is a pain in the arse, always problematic!
seems that for the developers free= non supportive , I give up!

in the theme, appearance, travel options!
just sent you an email ??

    Hey Luke
nice to have you back! ??
    it worked, you are great!
yes am talking about the size, even when i directly put a photo cropping to the suggested size, which there are 3 sizes in total, the end result is hardly right. I always have to try several ways before i get it right.
And yes, i have to crop to all 3 sizes before adding to the media gallery, and still it doesn′t get it right.
a lot of work i think

    OK
I decided to go for NextGen because of the way it displays and uploads images, many more options, etc.
    THANK YOU!!!!

    not really,
let me try to explain better

to add images to my home page I can only do it via the Travel Lite theme option
Appearance>theme option (i don′t have a NextGen gallery when in there)
but so when i click on the upload through that theme option, it goes automatically in the WP media files and not the NextGen files.
The WP media files won′t show the NextGen images.
So this is why I thought by putting maybe, as you suggested, the same place for storing files for both the plugin and the WP media it would work, but not sure it does really…

In other words I want the NextGen option to show when uploading images into the theme (preferably) or I want the NextGen images to show in the WP media files. I would like to be able to use NextGen for everything ignoring WP media files if possible, otherwise to EXPORT the nextgen files to WP media if my theme doesn′t allow me to pick directly from NextGen.

    sorry, hard to explain…

    Thread Starter yas-admin

    (@yas-admin)

thanks you are right, of course! ??

You can choose where the NextGen galleries are stored by going to Gallery -> Other Options -> Image Options

am trying to figure out what to put and where (I′d rather work from the NextGen gallery which is better if possible)
the WP media files says wp-content/uploads/
    the nextgen file says wp-content/gallery/

will close the topic after this one!
thanks again daft duke, where are the admin from WP and theme?, what would we do without people like you!
anything i can do for you??

I want to make the images on the home page clickable, i mean the ones in the boxes.
For this theme the home images are to be uploaded from the theme options, appearance> travel options.

I have downloaded NextGen Gallry (free) Plugin for more images options, which works and has a different name on the menu now of the wordpress admin panel, however when i need to upload images into my blog for this theme, the uploader still goes in the media files of the normal wordpress admin panel by default and not the new plugin one.
Is there a setting to override this or how can i make it that it chooses the NextGen gallery instead?
There seems to be an option for choosing the default media or nexgen one in the posts but not for the home page (theme options)

Any thoughts on the Tip section as described above?

    Thread Starter yas-admin

    (@yas-admin)

oh i found the answer of the excerpt!
wow what would we do without forums?

let me know about the clickable (linkable) images if you can thanks!
it’s for clicking the images on the pages to link to the posts.

Also can you have a page that is hidden form the menu? for example i want to make a Tips section without showing on the main menu but clicking directly from the home page image or link. However these will be more than one tips, so even though it will always click on the one advertised on the home page, there will be more than one. So Tips will be a new page, what and where will all the Tips posts be?
