In troubleshooting mode, it put the default theme as Twenty Twenty and I can’t figure out how to change it, so hopefully Twenty Twenty will work for testing. I have all plug-ins turned off with the exception of Jetpack, which is active. I made sure the comment feature was on in Jetpack for using social media accounts. On a blog post, it has the “What do you think? Leave a reply…” then has the “Enter your comment here…” box and has me logged in with my Noah Filipiak account (I assume through WP) and my little bio pic, but there is no option to log out of my Noah Filipiak account and there is nothing on the page about Twitter, Facebook, Google, WP.

Thanks Tracy. I had previously tried this, which is how I boiled it down to the jetpack plug-in, as it was the only plug-in that caused this error. I think switching the theme is definitely worth trying as a next step. I’m not super familiar in how to switch over my theme without it messing up my website visuals. Is there a way to switch themes in a trial mode without it messing up the live experience for people visiting my page?

Thanks Karen. Yes the same issue occurs with Safari as well as on different cell phone browsers.

I also kept Jetpack running and figured out I can just toggle off the commenters ability to login with Twitter, FB, Google, or WP. Not ideal, but at least I can still run the rest of Jetpack now.

Just as an update (I’m still really hoping someone can help me with this), I noticed in Customize’s “Add Header” that a 2000×380 px header image was the optimal size. I changed my header to this size and didn’t have any better luck. My header image is a photo of me and my family that looks great on the home page and ridiculous / unprofessional on any other page because the top and bottom of our faces get chopped off. Most of my site’s incoming traffic does not go to the home page, so this is a significant issue for me.

@kokkieh, how do I make my width wider while keeping the mobile display responsive to this change? When I widened the width in my CSS to my liking for the desktop, it spilled the text off the screen on mobile.

xbootenk, what is your url? i’d like to preview it before trying to make this same switch on mine. has it messed up the mobile version at all? (does all the text fit on the phone screen or does the text go too wide?)

I got the problem solved, so am all set. I just don’t know how to delete this thread.

it won’t appear until after you click to save the post you’re working on as a draft.

I’m running into the same problem. Any solutions or answers to this?

Hi Amy, I’m having a similar problem as you, except my dashboard has checkbox options:

*Insert a small icon linking to the verse in Logos Bible Software.
*Add a Logos icon to existing Logos Bible Software links.

–both of which I have unchecked, but I still get the “L”. Can you guide me through what I need to change or delete in the code to remove the “L”, or can you pass the link along to the forum you found it in? Thanks!

I found that whenever https was used, the error came up, whenever it was not used, everything worked fine. I went ahead and via bluehost, purchased the lowest level of https for my site, it was only a few bucks a month extra. that way i have peace of mind knowing it will always work.

Thanks a lot to you both. I’m going to just make sure https is not being used in any of my links, since I”m not selling anything. I have no idea how it got added when I got my first error message.

the site works when “https://” does not appear in the url after loading up. if i type the url in fresh, it works every time. but when it grabs the link from Firefox’s memory (once I start typing it in), i get the error and the “https” addition to it. is this something i need to worry about and/or is it something i can change (where https will also work)

well, one of my widgets was bad but am still having one of the problems. after taking out the excess widgets, my site displays correctly via my dashboard and via the link above, but i’m still getting the bluehost / 404 error if i use certain derivatives of “http” “www” and the “/” at the end, but can’t find a consistent pattern
