First of all, you have to set up a secondary page and publish it. From your dashboard, to to SETTINGS (upper right corner you’ll see “Seetings, Plugins, Users” links). Under “Setting” menu bar to to “Reading”
From “Front Page Displays” menu, select the second option, “A posts Page”. Use the drop-down menu to select the secondary page you created. Save and you’re there.

Thanks. I tried it over again. I unzipped the 2.6 files and decided to start over. No avail.

Scratch that. It is in both places, as follows:
wp/wp-includes/compat.php

actually, the file: compat.php does not exist on my server, nor could I find it in the upgrade package. am I missing something?

The CQS link was indeed there, I followed the instructions but I still only get one post at a time when I click on any month in Archives. Suggestions?

Here’s what I want: The most recent post (only) to show up on the index (home, main) page and multiple posts to show up in the Archives (by month). I’m using Hemingway. Right now, with the Reading Options set to (Blog Pages, Show at most, 1 posts) and the Syndication Feeds (show the most recent 10 posts), I get what I want on the main page but I only get one at a time when I click on any month in archives.

I’ve downloaded the Custom Query string plugin, but I’m not sure how to use it.
