In reply to: Blog died after “nightly build”Also, links to specific entries (e.g., https://xrlq.com/archives/2004/05/07/1489/the-joys-of-suv-ownership/#comments) also yield a blank screen.

In reply to: Blog died after “nightly build”And no, I’m not using the beta version. It’s the latest build of Version 1.0.1. Though at this stage, I’d gladly upgrade/downgrade/sidegrade to whatever will work.

In reply to: Blog died after “nightly build”Actually, I hadn’t run that. I just did. Now https://xrlq.com/ yields an Error 500. Going to the post.php file prompted a new login screen, but once I did log on, it was back to the blank one.

In reply to: Partially invisible commentsYou’re right – I just tried it with Mozilla, and the text box is exactly the right size. Weird.

In reply to: Partially invisible commentsExactly. Just like THIS text box extends to the right – only this one extends on top of the web site, while mine extends underneath. As a result, you can’t see the last 20-ish characters of your own comment while you type it. Once you submit it, though, it displays normally.

In reply to: Partially invisible commentsDid you try typing a comment of your own? The comments already posted display properly under IE, as well. It’s just while typing the message thath the characters continue under the sidebar.

In reply to: WP converts characters – how to turn off?Well, gee, if it’s the correct code for copyright, I guess that must mean it’s also the correct code for any other reason one might have for typing the sequence “(c).” My readers will never know what Section 18-9-204.5(c) of the Colorado Revised Statutes says, but hey, at least they’ll know that Section 18-9-204.5 is copyrighted.

In reply to: WP converts characters – how to turn off?I suppose that would work, but it’s a bit cumbersome. Is there no way to tell WP simply to take characters at face value?

In reply to: MT Import – 1and12fargon got it to work for me by breaking the import.txt file into several parts. Apparently, 1and1 can’t handle large migrations.
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: MT Import – 1and1Already did that. I also checked the import.txt file at the command line with “more” to make sure it looked right. And, to top it off, I even did a successful import of the same import.txt on another server, ICDSoft (see https://wp-test.xrlq.com/). If I have to stay on ICDSoft, I will, but I’d rather move things to the free 1and1 account if possible.

In reply to: MT Import – 1and1Yes. I even tried deliberately misnaming the file to see if it behaved the same way. It didn’t – that time I got an error message stating that the file did not appear to exist.
