In reply to: 403 Forbidden on page update ONLYInteresting, the issue is naturally the server was moved to a private subnet so can’t connect from the outside.
So the workaround would be to move that to a public subnet and attach directly I guess.

In reply to: Login page – with captchaThanks James, I will give that a look. Not 100% off topic, but on the standard register wordpress page that asks for an email/pass, can you add fields (such as address) so we can verify before we approve?
As I said, I am using the Registration Magic plugin, and can keep that for registering, but if I use the standard for login and forgot password, there is a register link there that can confuse people.
Thanks.
I don’t follow. I have stated, I goto the settings, select Amazon S3, enter my info, test (it confirms), I save, but still greeted with that same banner error –
The ‘Backup Now’ button is disabled as your backup directory is not writable (go to the ‘Settings’ tab and find the relevant option).

In reply to: [Team Rosters] roster image vs player bio image – can they be seperateHey Mark, thanks for the prompt reply. I started from scratch, took a nice 150 shot of my daughter and uploaded (there is no setting for size, using the fizz theme), but the details do show 150×150. Now the image detail shows the following url;
https://wp.powervolleyballacademy.com/?attachment_id=1742 (pic looks perfect), that image URL is https://wp.powervolleyballacademy.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/sophie_150.jpg (also looks perfect).Now, from the admin, I goto player, look at the featured image, pick that one. I then re-look to confirm and see:

150 × 160Then I save, look at the player page: https://wp.powervolleyballacademy.com/players/sophie and the image looks horrible, and the image URL is https://wp.powervolleyballacademy.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/sophie_150-53×53.jpg so naturally that is what the issue is.
Any clue as I don’t see anything on the media upload section and the URL it shows is correct.
Thanks for the reply and the plugin!

In reply to: [Timely All-in-One Events Calendar] Google Map not showing on 1st page loadSorry, I am realizing what it’s doing. If you goto the all-in-one calendar (https://www.thoseguysjazz.com/gigs/) you will see the events. If you click one (that you haven’t clicked) you will get the info along with no map. You can click back to calendar, then that event again, still no map. Until you hit F5 or refresh, the map simply won’t appear.
It semes there not even hiding, but removing that data. I would guess if someone had 100 things on the calendar it would slow things down, but that is not the case. You can goto that link and see.
Thanks again.

In reply to: Server errorsince you have access to the box, I would simply do this. Goto the apache2 log folder.
Type tail -f *error*. That will show a few things, hit enter a few times to clear the screen a bit.
Then in a browser, hit that URL. Something should be written to that error log immediately with your IP, the time and the error. You could also look at the other error logs you have there, but might as well start with the current one.
Post back the error and we can probably get it fixed once we know what’s wrong.

In reply to: Server errorin linux you can ssh into the server using any ssh client and the pem security file. From there, you can do the following;
sudo su
cd /var/log/apache2
ls -l |grep error
(that will show you all your error files). Not sure if there broken by host name, etc. Once you know what file you want, you can do;tail -n 20 filename and it will spit out a bunch of stuff.
Now on Windows, simply RDP into the box, goto windows explorer, navigate to the IIS logs and take the latest one. Haven’t used windows in a while, but normally there under c:\inetpub\logs\logfiles. From there you may have a few folders based on how many vhosts you have, but look around in there, you will find them.
That should be enough to get you started …

In reply to: Server error500 has a bunch of reasons, do you have access to the weblogs?
If so, post the last few entries in the server’s/websites -error.log and that will be a huge help.
