In reply to: WP sites (on Ubuntu) slow on first access??Hm, ok … I’ll check those.
But are you sure it can’t be an internal DNS problem? But I guess if it was then every page would take 7 seconds and not just the first?
Thanks.

In reply to: WP sites (on Ubuntu) slow on first access??Hi James,
Thanks so far.
Well, I’m testing it locally in the LAN and there it takes 7 seconds. I’ve also installed the ‘Quick Cache’ plugin but it makes no difference. Yet 7 seconds is really not acceptable! Especially since it was displayed instantly on the Windows server using IIS!
Disabling all the plugins didn’t make it faster …

In reply to: Importing WP 3 site WITH menu structure into WP Multi-Site?Thank you, Andrea.
But how exactly would I do this? Export and Import the whole database?? Or just some tables?
Hi Andrea,
Ok, works now!!
Hi,
Thanks so far but I’ve now reinstalled the whole thing using sub-directories instead of sub-domains. I thought that was easier ……
Yet it isn’t really. When I try to access a sub-directory I’ve created on the main site (example: https://linuxwp.test.local/galileo/) I get an error telling me that this page/site does not exist … Accessing the backend of that directory doesn’t work either therefore ??
I once got this running on a Windows server with IIS but I’d like to have it on Ubuntu now.
Any other suggestions??
Thanks!
Also:
Why do the additional sites get *.wplinux.test.local addresses? Shouldn’t they get *.test.local addresses?

In reply to: Restricting the stats a WP user can see?Another update … ok, actually no one is able to see any stats without my wordpress.com login … but can I selectively let some of the users from my self-hosted WP see some of the stats which are apparently then based on my wordpress.com account?
Thank you.

In reply to: Restricting the stats a WP user can see?Uh, and apparently it’s not only the admins who can see all the stats from all the sites but also the other authors for example!?

In reply to: embedding iFrame in WP 3.0.1?Uh, apparently the simple
<iframe name="FRAME1" src="https://" width="100%" height="550" frameborder="0" scrolling="auto"></iframe>
code works … so why the need for a plug-in at all??Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: embed iFrame not working on WP 3.0.1?Hello … no one??

In reply to: Changing the domain name of a WP multisite installation?Ok, everything works fine now. I’ve simply edited the HOME and SITE URL in all 4 sites using phpMyAdmin. And I’ve used the UpdateURL plugin to get the media links right.
