Thanks for the response wfphil. I am aware of the limitations as mentioned. Given my current IP is the one listed and generally doesn’t change and is the one reported in Live Traffic, how did WF and the additional 2FA plugin, still allow me to be locked out? Given what happened, it would suggest that Whitelisting is useless.
Still in this case, my current IP was registered in both the WF options and the 2FA set up. To me the bigger issue isn’t that the whitelisting allowed me to be locked out, but that there isn’t a tool as there is with WF failed passwords, to start a process to get back in. Why not allow someone a limited shot at inputting the code as part of a two-step re-authorization to allow an attempt at logging in under 2FA. Otherwise, someone has to FTP/SFTP into the folders and disable the plugin(s).
That isn’t exactly something everyone is familiar with.
When it comes to WordFence, I am pretty active in the back end looking at Live Traffic and filtering for the bad players. As you know, attacks have spiked recently. I feel sorry for people who don’t get to know WordFence. It is a tool I strongly suggest my clients to install. Just added a post on LinkedIn today about that.

In reply to: [LiteSpeed Cache] LiteSpeed and DIVI still having issues? The flashing went away. Load JS Deferred didn’t seem to make much difference when I compare what was parsed before and after using GTMetrix.

In reply to: [LiteSpeed Cache] So far so good! Thanks for the fast response. Appropriate response rated in recommendation. My goal was under 2 seconds for load. Any resources on eliminating Google resources, i.e. Google Maps from being loaded? Specifically within LS Cache, can we stuff that process? Not so worried if I am coming in under 2 sec, but hey, I will take any fractions I can.
Just a heads up to other users, this wasn’t that hard to implement, but GTMetrix and other tools did point me at places I needed to make minor optimizations. Very nice to be “All Green” when it didn’t start that way!

So after I sent the above message, I engaged Browser Caching and the subsequent test show Defer Java Script improve as well as Leverage Browser caching. But that came at a cost, raising my page load by .8 sec to 2.9.
Ms. Johnson,
Massive improvements in Site Kit with the recent updates. It now is working much better and is much closer to the tool I expect it to be.Thank you for the note suggesting my previous review made a difference. WordPress is a community as well as a tool that supports my economy. Good n
I do have one minor suggestion in regards to the alert banner that shares traffic improvements. This banner would be more useful if…
#1 It stated the period to which the traffic increase is compared to.
#2 There was an option to configure traffic comparison “congratulation alerts” to a periods such as “a year ago”, “last thirty days”, or “last week”.Thanks!

In reply to: must plugins always be active? In my professional and personal websites, I avoid having inactive plugins.
Although there are some plugins you might want to activate for spot use, I suggest that the only good plugin is one you actually need and keep active. I recently deleted 20 plugins from a client site, including four that were inactive, and no in-house Admin noticed. Then again, that site had 55 plugin.
Then there is the issue of website security. Active plugins are generally kept up to date. Of course there are abandoned plugins that still work without updates, but I’d be auditing my plugins as a regular security measure.
Hey,
I agree with the “Out of Beta” part of your comment, my review suggested that as well. Since then I have seen the plugin’s performance improve, but I still have to re-authenticate after every update. As to A2 Hosting, I have a lot of my personal and business sites there under a reseller account. I haven’t had any different experience loading it there than I have with GoDaddy, InMotion, or WPEngine hosts. I will say that I generally uninstall all the A2 Hosting plugins that allegedly improve performance.
As to getting the deeper stats, I am waiting for a response from a few site owners to tell me what they are seeing. Unless they shared ownership of the site with you, you will likely have to share the ownership with them if they want access to the deeper data available via Google’s various consoles (Search, Analytics, & Page Speed Insights).
I really want this to work because even the basic back end data helps make quick tweaks of content. My SEO and site performance workload is easier to justify to the powers that sign my checks now that they can see the basic data.
Some sites push up the Analytics data immediately, while others I am still waiting on. All set up at the same time, that is within a few hours. Quite frustrating and in general, underwhelming execution.
A bit too early to claim “stable”. I had to re-authenticate another site, but I did not get an intermediate verification box. That is how I’d describe another box which in retrospect, may have been a separate authorization for Analytics.
Thank for response. So far the plugin is “stable” today.

In reply to: [WooCommerce] 3.6.1 Update Fail WPEngineSure thing. Connected with WPEngine support and let them ride shotgun on update just in case and it worked fine.
Also updated another client site on WPEngine and no issues at all.
Just glad both working!

I am having the same issue on a fresh WP install. Was watching this for solutions, but sans an answer, will just pull JetPack.

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Mixing items shipped free with Table Rate items.FYI: Apparently plugins such as WooCommerce’s Table Rate plugin don’t play intuitively with WooCommerce. Apparently if you ship “FREE” items and they are included with items that ship with a fee, you must build the “FREE SHIPPING” into the Table Rates plugin.
Write us up some better docs on this WooCommerce..
WordFence I know pretty well, “render-blocking” and BETA features in plugin would be fair game for some explanation from the developer. Call it a confidence building exercise for those who have sent clients your way to upgrade to premium.
Given that I make the referral and then I see a function beyond my code ability to decipher, I ask questions not about WordFence, but this plugin.
Any list of unknown domains in a plugin concern me. Seems that BETA testing is for BETA plugins..
These days we have options and trusting them is fundamental to the security of client sites.
Is this code below necessary to make WP Fastest Cache work? If so, why?
