In reply to: How to remove shopping cart icon to my wordpress themeI tried adding the suggested code to the CCS Custom on the Child Theme for the Canvas theme.
Did not work. Shopping cart icon remains in the right side of the Primary Menu.
Jeremy,
I am getting differing information about terminating subscriptions. In my case, the subscribers are dead. Literally. I would like to delete them.
I was told that deactivating the Subscription widget merely prevents new subscribers but that existing subscribers would continue receiving blog notices. In your earlier post, you stated otherwise.
If the widget is deactivated, do existing subscribers continue to receive blog notices?
Thanks.

In reply to: Turning Off SubscriptionsThanks for the reply. Not sure I like WP having all the control over subscribers. I did learn that exporting a site and importing it to a new physical location will remove subscribers. The export feature does not port the subscriber list.
Anyway, thanks for the clear answer.

In reply to: Alternating InstallationsThanks for the help. I don’t think what I what is technically possible without manually updating the A and B sites. I was hoping to have two sites (one domain) and only one was live while the other would allow edits . Then I could switch the domain assignment to the working site so the the previous live would now be the working. I wanted to avoid my edits showing up on a live site as I entered them.
Thanks again.

In reply to: [Genesis Title Toggle] [Plugin: Genesis Title Toggle] No Title, No h1 tagThanks for the excellent help. I think I was clumsy in explaining what I want. It is my understanding that the home page should have a very descriptive URL for the SEO and that the h1 tag should match it. I just didn’t know how to do that without putting that title smack on the front page and not having that title as a menu item. I think your suggestion does that.
There are conflicts between design and SEO objectives. A long h1 title, visibly on the home page may arouses the SE but it seems inelegant to me. Your help (and patience) is greatly appreciated.

In reply to: [Genesis Title Toggle] [Plugin: Genesis Title Toggle] No Title, No h1 tagThanks for the fast response. A search for h1 on Title Off pages reveals that no h1 is present. The Genesis F/W places the title in the content automatically, hence the need for your plugin.
My goal is to have a specific h1 tag about the page (for SEO) that does not have to display as a menu item nor in the content. I figured there was a way to do this but possibly not.

In reply to: Which Editor to UseThanks, again, but my question is not about inserting CSS. There are different methods, as in the initial post, that seem to all edit the same file. My question is about any preference in the different editing. I know how to use them, but is one preferred over another.
They all have a “CSS box” so when you suggest that it is unclear which CSS edit method you’re referring to.

In reply to: Which Editor to UseI appreciate your reply but I don’t think I understand it. All the options provide some sort of editing box. Are your referring to the Jetpack CSS Editor? I tried that and it works but I could not find where it was saving the changes.

In reply to: Which Redirect Method to UseFollowup:
I deleted the .htaccess file from the root. Followed the instructions and it works great. Thanks for all the help.

In reply to: Which Redirect Method to UseThanks, again. That brings me to my original question about the .htaccess file. The Pre-Existing method references one in the wp-admin directory and I do not have one. Also, I do have one (from using the Pointing method) in the root directory. Does it get overwritten by a “blank” .htaccess file?
Thanks.

In reply to: Which Redirect Method to UseThank you for replying. WP is currently installed in a sub-directory and not the root directory of the domain name. It all works well. I was just trying to not have the sub-directory’s name show in the URL bar as a viewer navigates through the site and did not know if the Pre-Existing Sub Dir alterations would do that.
