Hi James, wasn’t my intention to bad mouth the guys at Backup Creator either. Just trying to help others who might end up in the same situation.

I’m now running Manage WP which is pretty good and offer loads of other features as well as cloning.

Still waiting on a refund so watch this space….

Just thought I’d drop a quick update, I have my site back up and it was the backup creator which was the issue. Followed the instructions above:

1.swapped the plugins folder to plugins.pak
2. changed theme in phpmyadmin to twentyten
3. my site was viewable again
4. logged into my wordpress dashboard and deleted backup creator
5. changed my plugins folder back to plugins
6. swapped my theme back
7. All sorted and panic over!

I was on wordpress 3.3.1 and using backup creator 1.08/9D.

Still no word from backup creator although my hosting company (www.unlimitedwebhosting.co.uk), as always, were super helpful.

Hi guys,

I think I’m having the same issue. When your site went down did you just get a message about not finding server or too busy? I know my server is fine as I can ftp onto it, I just can’t see my wordpress site or log in to the wp-admin dashboard.

It’s most frustrating and I can’t get anyone at backup creator either.
