My guess is that you are getting this error because the Genesis Framework isn’t installed as a theme. This plugin requires the Genesis Framework by StudioPress to function properly.
To get the most out of the plugin, it should also be used on a WP Sunday child theme.
I will update the plugin description to state this more clearly.
