In reply to: A Directory theme – for listing professionalsHiya!
You’re spot on that there are many available! Many are clunky and honestly I’ve yet to see one that covers 100% what a Directory Plugin should cover. That being said, we are trying to build our Directory Plugin to fill that need.
https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/wordpress-directory/
It’s made a little differently than most so it’s actually a little more flexible than you will find elsewhere. This also makes it very advanced. We have recoded and rebuilt it on the CustomPress plugin code. Which means it’s actually a Custom Post Type that can be used as is, or if you are comfortable with custom post types and how they operate, you can tweak build and construct your idea of the perfect Directory Plugin.
Let me know your thoughts!
Best,
Kimberly

In reply to: [Anti-Splog] [Plugin: Anti-Splog] Pay For Usage?Thank You so much for your valuable feedback.
I think you are within every right to feel this way, especially with the advent of many “bait and switch” type plugins in the repository here. And I believe it’s this change in culture that has made our sales copy, which was once wholly adequate, now seemingly deceitful.
It used to be that Free was hard to find. Anyone sharing a Free plugin, or a paid with Free features, was participating in the spirit of what WordPress represents (this plugin was first shared over a year ago). Now, there are so many paid and Free options, many pervading once exclusively Free resource pools that the tide seems to have turned. Anyone offering something Free now seems to be trying to dupe users. And understandably so! There are many who offer ONLY Free install of the plugin, no Free Features to be had!
I do not mean to imply that you are accusing us of this, I’m only trying to offer some perspective perhaps. I will, as stated, take this up with the copy-writers and see if we can’t “get with the times”, after all this one has been around quite some time, which means the copy is equally as dated.
You will not be refused any DEV plugins ?? On the contrary, your feedback would be invaluable on any plugins you would like to comment on. Hope to see you around our community! ??

In reply to: [Anti-Splog] [Plugin: Anti-Splog] Pay For Usage? The copy I referred to is on the front page of the project description.
At some point the user is responsible for reading the copy about any plugin they download, not just this one.
I will pass on your suggestion to the proper folks.
Thank You!

In reply to: [Anti-Splog] [Plugin: Anti-Splog] Pay For Usage? Please refer to the items listed below Anti-Splog Features on the plugin page.
The first Signup Prevention listing states:
Signup Prevention – these measures are mainly to stop bots. User friendly error messages are shown to users if any of these prevent signup. They are all optional, require no API key and include:
Please note the mention of: require no API key
The second feature listing The API states
Since the blog was actually created, it will still show up in the super admin area (as spammed) so you can unspam later if there was a mistake (and our API will learn from that). Note that this service requires an API key.
Please note the mention of: Note that this service requires an API key

In reply to: [Membership 2] [Plugin: Membership] Questions About This PluginGreat questions ??
The major issue we face with this plugin is the robust code. It is very powerful and therefore it can be a bit tedious when it comes to settings. Meaning, you need to make sure everything is in line. Often folks miss something like allowing a particular page in the access levels, adding access levels to subscriptions, having an extra gateway active, etc.
We do have a HUGE manual and active support community so we do actively update the plugin for issues that need to be taken care of.
If you have any specific concerns I’d be glad to talk about them with you ??

In reply to: membership site and indexWell, to start with you should definitely use our free membership plugin hosted here at www.remarpro.com
In terms of listing members you could then use a very simple list users widget, like this Authors avatar list (also available here at wp.org)
Any help?

In reply to: [Wiki] [Plugin: Wiki lite] Questions about this plugin before I downloadonce I upgrade, all non-admins have the ability to add their own Wiki pages without having to have Admin rights?
Yes
Also, if a non-admin makes a Wiki page that becomes abusive towards another member, is it possible to disable Wiki creations per user?
Not right now, but that’s in the road map
Also, will this plugin work with wordpress styles/templates (i have a RocketTheme template) or does the Wiki pages look like all of the other Wiki’s and aren’t able to customize it all that much?
Wiki pages are highly customizable with themes
