Note we have never smushed the original size in all the plugin’s history for very large dimension images. We didn’t take anything away here, just added a feature.
The reason it’s skipped is because the original size when it’s big enough to generate a large resize is never embedded on a website. It’s only sometimes linked to as a download, in which case it’s generally better for that to be untouched.
Just to mention, Nextgen support is coming. ??

In reply to: [User Role Editor] Poorly Scaling QueriesThanks for including!
Thanks! Unfortunately many people don’t know this but when you upload an image, even if you pre-optimize it, WP makes lots of resizes, and those are no longer optimized.
Hey there, we’ll look into this. You should condsider turning on smushing automatically on upload.
Hey Treebeard,
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review, I’m really sorry to hear about your experience though.
I was trying to see if you opened a support ticket, and what happened there. I didn’t find one, perhaps you have a link?
If you’re still using our plugin and need some help, please let us know. We’d love the opportunity to try and turn your experience around.
Take care and have a great day!

WPMU DEVAlso try deactivating then activating. There is an upgrade routine in there that is supposed to import the old stats.
Oh, and is the problem only with auto-smush on? I would think turing that off and doing an occassional bulk smush would get around any issues.
The worst is that it broke definitively. I tried to uninstall, reinstall each separately, and yet another plugin does not re-stamp the images.
What exactly does this mean? What is broken, smushing or watermarking?
WIth smush deactivated, do new images get watermarked?
Ok. All the images on your site that actually link to your media library work fine, example: https://www.catchycopy.co.uk/why-you-cant-trust-your-web-developer-with-seo/
On you home page there appears to be various JS errors, and those are preventing some kind of slider code you have loading images into it. Definitely completely unrelated to Smush plugin. You can try deactivating plugins one by one to find the culprit. Or get support from the slider plugin author.
Lossless is lossless. For jpg files we simply strip the meta and rearrange the compressed data (DCT coefficients), without ever fully decoding the image. Therefore, its transformations are lossless: there is no image degradation at all. We also render progressive if that improves size.
It sounds like something specific to your system (and maybe retina display) that is rendering the image different for you. Maybe you could give us a link to your original file so we can try to recreate?
There must be something malformed in the coding of that file, so our API can’t verify it.
You can ignore, or reencode the jpg on your computer and upload again.

After loading Version 2, plus no image is displayed.
I came back.
Already dissatisfied with the previous version, it ‘s worse. We would love to help you work out whatever issues you are having. The 2.0.x versions are already installed and working on 15,000+ sites, so there must be a problem specific to your setup. We would need any more details you can provide about the exact problem.
