The settings language is not clear, so I wasn’t sure if I had done it right. After it published as ME I deleted it, which led to the plugin not working. I’d have to finish a new post to test it. Let’s hope it works.

In reply to: [Smart 404] [Plugin: Smart 404] Great 404 toolThanks for the “flat” vs. “list” tip!
Editing must have expired, sorry if I just can’t find the link.
OK I found the page for it under the dashboard, the install directions didn’t tell where it was.
It appears I was wrong that this would display the likes publicly.

In reply to: home.php functionality faulty? But this now means that the page must be static with no posts, right? What about 1 post from site news, or other reasons…

But that may not help you, because it didn’t help me and I use Gmail (App), too.

In reply to: Thank You WPCluetrain – sometimes I have trouble with new installs/upgrades and the image editor, but it’s improved (totally fixed?) since 2.6. There’s also the option to not use flash, which helps.
However, when I select “don’t include link to photo” or whatever it is, a link still is included. ??

In reply to: Thank You WPI find SOME of the (somewhat newer/different) layout/organization of the admin NOT logical – or at least cumbersome to navigate.
It’s mostly to write a page, sometimes I’m too eager and start writing a post. Then to edit a page, it takes more steps than I’d like. I’d like pages to be separate from writing posts and more accessbile from top-level, personally.
But most of all I hate the new practically hidden links to drafts. Well, yes, there’s a drafts link on the Dashboard with the rest of the CLUTTER of links – not that that area’s bad – it’s just it lets me forget about some of my drafts. Silly brain, but WP used to better help. What’s worse is when I go to write – I can’t get to drafts from there any longer, I have to THEN go to edit. I’m not used to this, and I’d rather not get used to it.
Also, I miss the list of recent drafts, SO helpful. Sometimes annoying when I didn’t want to work on them, but it helped get them posted – hehe. I’d also see other writer’s drafts that might need my attention. (I own the blogs and have had others write FOR me.)
Yes, there is a plugin to help most of that, but when I last used that plugin, I found it a bit troublesome – like the navigation became off. For instance, I know I remember the wrong tab highlighted when write page or something was moved. Perhaps this has been fixed?
Still, I’d like this improved within WP, personally.
That being said, I WAS just thinking the other day how WordPress is the best thing since sliced bread. This is just constructive criticism.
And why is sliced bread so great? I kind of like rolls, as well! Therefore WP is BETTER. Haha. (What was good BEFORE sliced bread, eh?) ??

In reply to: Thank you message after commentFirst of all, I’m opting for this, too, because I REALLY want to check comments IN admin – but I might just attempt at giving up and again looking for a plugin that WILL do that – any help?
2nd: Boober, it doesn’t work, because of the “foreach” – and YES, it doesn’t work because it will show a thank you for every comment “posted” (or every one after deleted, if he will delete, but he could get more than one before he checks – I sure would).
I have tried using different php code instead of the foreach code, and I can’t get it to work. I’m not a HUGE coder. What else will effectively redirect back to that spot (A), and (B) show just the one thank you message?
IE: what would show the comments besides the foreach code, and only show the LAST one? (Except in our case, there won’t be any comment, just the thank you/moderation replacement text.)

In reply to: Is there plugin that show ajax comment “form” inline?Edit: Wow. I’m a bad reader. I thought you didn’t want to scroll a-way down ON the single page….
Let me add more info specifically relating to what you say, but it’ll make more sense AFTER my intro (sorry)…
Here is somewhat related info, sorry.
That original website is down right now, but what I did on one of my blogs was “float” my comment section so it would appear next to the comment form, and then wrap around below it.
Why float the comments and not the form? (Aside from comments typically coming first in the default template) Because then when there are no comments, it still shows properly (the old way).
This doesn’t help with a long post above, strictly, but it may give you ideas.
You could also try putting the form in the sidebar, but I’m pretty sure it only works to post from the comments template, so it can’t go in sidebar.php, but instead add a sidebar div into the comments.php template for a small comment form. ?? (You’d put that at the end of the comments template.)
I’ve even added meta, like categories, to like a sub-sidebar for single pages only. (The same could be done with an extra mini form, although, it would need to be coded after all of the single.php coding, and be in comments.php, so the form would be on the bottom of that aside.)
It’s that same site as the form, here’s a sample post:
https://bagdreamblog.com/obama-bag/
(Sorry if things drastically change there in the future.)
So to show a little comment form on the index, first there is javascript readily available, not even necessarily for WP, that shows/hides with a click.
Then you’d add an if (is_single()) { to your regular code in comments.php, and add if(!is_single()) { (or perhaps some alt) to a small comment form.
I don’t know if that would quite work though. ??

In reply to: 2 comments templatesHmmmmm try using conditional tags (php if), search this site for more info.
It seems like that should work well for what you want.
You put in code for if it’s that category, show this, else, the regular.

OK Awesome. Good to know.
No one else freak out now, ok?!
