@daaniilka Thanks for reaching out!
Charitable has been made compatible with the GDPR.
https://www.wpcharitable.com/charitable-1-6-user-privacy-gdpr-better-refunds-and-a-new-shortcode/
https://www.wpcharitable.com/documentation/charitable-user-privacy/As the post notes by default, all personal data stored for donations made within the last two years will be retained. Personal data is not automatically removed when the data retention period is passed; it is erased when a user specifically requests to have their data erased. You can adjust the setting in the privacy tab.
Basic personal information is retained for tracking donations, reporting, etc. in Charitable (similar to how a name and an email address is kept when someone leave a comment on a blog). Tax and government record keeping are also reasons, depending on where your live.
The ability to add make the consent box required was added to 1.8.3.4 which was just released. You’ll find this setting in the privacy tab in Charitable settings. You can give that a try and let us know if you encounter any issues or if that matches what you were looking for.
Hope this helps. Have a good day!
@drnwd6 When functionality or changes happen on the front end side without updating (Charitable is releasing a new version this week but hasn’t since we last spoke) this might be a caching issue or even a conflict with something on your system. Not discounting a bug, but when we see the site it’s ok – maybe we are just timing it right here.
But you are happy to ping us anytime.
@murraydailymaverick Hey Murray – thanks for sharing that. We actually are updating how users are fetched in the admin – the next version of Charitable actually already has one modification involving grabbing a limited number of users for the visual campaign builder settings. If you want to share anything more (like the locations of where the users being fetched slowed you down) I can pass that along to our team to make them aware if they aren’t already. I know making Charitable efficient for sites with a large number of users is a priority. Thanks!
@drnwd6 not sure what you mean by “login request” unless i’m missing this in your previous messages. You might be referring to the text on the donation page itself and if so then try this feature on the general settings page (currently in beta): https://a.supportally.com/i/D7ihTa
@drnwd6 Yes. You can remove the suggested items by clicking the “X” next to each one. https://a.supportally.com/i/Sc2vVk
This would result in just the custom donation box appearing on your campaign: https://a.supportally.com/i/Nq0AMh
I have tested the new URL https://samaritanscout.com/campaigns/going-national/ and it is working for me (in Chrome and Firefox) as what I showed in the video prior. I am also seeing the form now work on your donate page as well, where 24 hours ago it wasn’t: https://samaritanscout.com/scale-scout/
So this appears to be resolved. I’m guessing some sort of change happened on your end? Did you follow our suggestions or find the issue?Appreciative!
@drnwd6 Thanks for putting that back and we’ve checked it out. We can confirm what you’re reporting. We attempted to test on our end. To keep things simple we used a default Astra theme (the theme you appear to be using) and a campaign with the same block (and a donate button). Just to check and make sure, and the first two points are working as expected on our end (in case you want to see a video: https://a.supportally.com/v/QIGR2d )
So this might mean there’s something particular to your setup so if you can do the following testing:
- First see if you can create just a simple campaign with the donation amount field + a donation button like in our video. Our settings were default for the field but just in case we wanted to share: https://a.supportally.com/i/vUOhxl – but please note if you are testing the custom donation amount do not input a currency amount (there is a bug reported when this happens that will be resolved in the next maintenance release scheduled within the next week).
- Next with this simple test can you switch to a default WordPress theme, clear your browser cache, reset your permalinks, clear any plugin / server cache and try the page again? When you click on a item it should show selected just in the video.
- Deactivate any non-Charitable plugins next while on the default theme, clear caches and test again.
Since the issue (for now) appears to be limited to your system the above testing should confirm if it’s some sort of conflict with the theme (or settings) and any plugins.
If the above testing proves unsuccessful then our team will need some additional information to see if we can reproduce and/or troubleshoot further:
- Copy and paste the information in Charitable’s Tools->System Info into pastebin.com and share with us that link. Also let us know if you are inserting this as a shortcode, block, or using Charitable’s default campaign display.
Hopefully the above will narrow things down a bit regarding that.
As for your third item regarding PayPal, assuming everything is correctly setup and ready to with the Paypal account then you need to check “test mode” on the gateways page in Charitable settings is in test mode or not. Then make sure the correct API keys are added in the PayPal section of the gateway options (so if you want to be connected live test mode should be off and the live API key(s) should be entered and saved in the Paypal settings). If you have any more questions about this let us know.
Our support is limited on weekends but we’ll continue to monitor. Thanks!@drnwd6 Thanks for reaching out. I examined the URL that you provided an it appears at first glance that i’m not seeing a Charitable form or something similar, including the items you are describing. If you can point me to the page with these items I would be more than happy to take a look and provide assistance. Thank you!
@gautammkgarg thanks for reporting this issue. i’ll pass it along to our team and if this/once confirmed it will be updated in the next maintenance release. Currently I believe a maintenance release is being planned for release next week. Thanks again!

@biljnaishrana no problem! reach out if you see a similar issue after clearing permalinks. have a good one!
@biljnaishrana Thanks for reaching out. I visited the https://www.healthglows.net/campaigns/donation/ link and I see a content page with a donation button that opens up a modal with donation options – normal Charitable actions so far. Because you said this link goes to the homepage, I stopped. So it’s not redirecting for me. Maybe what you saw was cached?
It’s possible this was a permalink or cache issue. If this happens again clear any cache (in your browser, on your website from a plugin or hosting company’s cache). You might also want to know of how to refresh your permalinks:
https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-regenerate-your-permalinks-in-wordpress/I hope this helps. Let me know if there’s any further questions I can answer or any help you might need. Your site looks nice! ??
@richdixon thank you and thanks for being with Charitable 4+ years! we value all your support as a valued user!
Hi @rohanrd
Thanks for reaching out!
Right now, we don’t officially support the CCAvenue gateway. I do know our team is considering supporting additional gateways in the coming months I’ve noted this request and will pass it along to our team so we can keep it on our radar.
Thank you for sharing this. And if you have any other questions, could you please let me know?
Thanks!
@ukiukivalue Thank you for letting us know. Have a good weekend!
@ukiukivalue Thanks for reaching out. We didn’t see a screenshot but we examined the URL, and attempted a test but because you are in live mode Stripe (correctly) declined our test card. But we didn’t get the error message (it usually happens prior to Stripe rejecting payment). Here’s our suggestions:
- Make sure you are using the latest version of Charitable (1.8.3 at the time I’m writing this).
- Put Charitable into test mode, reconnect with Stripe (test mode), and see if you have issues.
- If the error was “Unfortunately, we were unable to verify your form submission. Please reload the page and try again” (slightly different than your quote) then it might be related to a security check Charitable does. If so, you may eventually see a notice in Charitable if this happens often enough. To be on the safe side deactivate any and call caching plugins and server side caching to rule this out. We have documentation that goes into this more deeply. Retest.
- Deactivate all remaining non-Charitable plugins, switch to a default WordPress theme and retest.
Even before you attempt the above it might be a good idea to first enable logging as shown on this page. Edit wp-config.php on your WordPress root directory and add:
define( 'WP_DEBUG', true );
define( 'WP_DEBUG_LOG', true );
define( 'WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false );When you’ve done this then proceed with the suggested testing (so you can capture in the logs results of those tests). At the end then you have the ability to share the debug.log file that should have been generated (or share the errors in that file you see) with us. You can paste this into https://pastebin.com/ or https://gist.github.com and share a link with us.
Thanks. As soon as you share more information I’ll pass this along to our team!
