In reply to: Mistake not creating a child themeDid that already yogi. I see the differences. The problem i am having is how to now implement it. Do i move the function.php from parent to child and put an unaltered copy in the parent?

In reply to: Mistake not creating a child themeUnfortunately in my case, i require a function.php in the child theme as it appears to be one of the ones i modified the most when i initially set up the site. I read that link before posting and it was still a little confusing to a newbie like me.

In reply to: Mistake not creating a child themeSo i went ahead and created a child theme. When i activated it, i immediately got a fatal error message. After further googling, i discovered that i cannot have the same function.php file in the parent and child. I removed the one from the child just to recover my website. Now i am confused about this function.php file. I for sure need one in my child theme but from what i have read, i have to manually create one from scratch? Can anyone give simplified instructions on how to proceed from here? Thanks.

In reply to: Mistake not creating a child themeI know i can back it up but i would still like to know if my thinking is correct as far as WP3.5 bring TE1.5 with it.

In reply to: Mistake not creating a child themeBut i have twenty eleven 1.3. WP3.5 will probably bring twenty eleven 1.5 with it. This will mess my site up as it will have default untouched files as opposed to my altered 1.3 files. Is that not right?

In reply to: Mistake not creating a child themeI am using the standard twenty eleven theme. Christine are you saying that upgrading to WP3.5 will not also bring along Twenty eleven 1.5?

In reply to: Removing repeated menu itemThanks for trying. Can anyone else suggest something without having to view the website?

In reply to: Removing repeated menu itemDont have a site up yet but here is an example of what i was trying to describe: https://www.foxnews.com. Click on anything in the menu and notice how that item appears under the main menu on the upper left? Thats the same thing i am trying to get rid of.

In reply to: Help doing a few things with this ThemeGuys, i still need some help. With codex readings and trial and error, i have made progress but i am still stuck. From my #1 point in my first post, i now know how to add things to the top menu via pages. However, i cant figure out how to make it so that when you click on those things in the menu, it takes you to a URL like “www.cnn.com”. The only option i seem to have right now is “www.mysite.com/blog/……”. From my #2 point, i figured out how to move the forum title. From my #3 point, i have read up on this and will take care of it. From my #4 point, i found a plugin called “Morefields”. I have set it up but i cant get it to work. The fields do not show up in my posts. I believe i have to insert some code into a file on the backend but i am unsure how to do this even after reading the help files. From my #5 point, i have also read up on this and will be attempting it soon. Thanks.
