In reply to: [Block Referer Spam] Site Down – Emergency Please Help!Good news, I received this reply from Vaultpress:
“VaultPress also backs up and restores the .htaccess file(s), and you can see it in your latest backup here as well (link removed for post)This being said, you might encounter linking issues after restores. In those cases, we suggest heading to the Settings -> Permalinks page and clicking the “Save Changes” button which will force the permalinks structure to be rebuilt.”I did have a few linking issues but they seem to have disappeared. I’m going to see if my hosting company can confirm everything looks good on the backend.

In reply to: [Block Referer Spam] Site Down – Emergency Please Help!My hosting company was able to disable the plugin by renaming it. I restored my site using vaultpress. After the site restore I still had some problems with pages other than my homepage showing up white, but they seem to be fine now.
The hosting company said there were two problems, one with the plugin file and one with htaccess. The plugin will have disappeared with the site restore, but I don’t know if my htaccess has been restored back or not. I have a message in to vaultpress to find out if htaccess would have been backed up and restored.
Fingers crossed again…
I’ll keep you posted.Heather

In reply to: [PayPal for WooCommerce] Theme Conflict with Paypal Express?I agree–it does sound like that, but in woocommerce settings, the only thing I’ve enabled is “Express Pay…. paypal_express” Nothing else. You can see my confusion. I did have standard paypal enabled earlier. I thought maybe the button was cached somehow but I tried it in a different browser and same problem.

In reply to: "Update Themes" will I lose my custom theme?Thank you so much Jan,
I appreciate the quick response.I’m glad I went with my gut and didn’t install the upgrade before checking. ?? I have someone that did the 3.3.1 upgrade for me who should be able to re-build the theme for me along the lines of “option #2.” Extra expense but after seven years without an upgrade I think I got off pretty easy!
Many thanks again. ??

In reply to: text duplicates below footer when I postThank you so much for responding Chip!
I hired someone to upgrade to the new wordpress and I did not know the themes would have to be updated for compatibility also.
I haven’t tried switching to default theme because I’m a bit of a novice and afraid of messing things up (already lost two pages yesterday by meddling in the wrong settings page)
I have a theme update I have not installed because I was afraid it would override my custom theme. But it sounds like this may be the problem? Here is what it says below (boldface added)
*******
Themes
The following themes have new versions available. Check the ones you want to update and then click “Update Themes”.Please Note: Any customizations you have made to theme files will be lost. Please consider using child themes for modifications.
You have version installed. Update to 1.7.2.

In reply to: text duplicates below footer when I postThe duplication does not appear to happen when I edit an existing page, in other words a page that was created prior to the upgrade to wordpress 3.1.
