So make you familiar with the concept of child-themes.
First choose your favorite theme and then do your modifications within the child theme.

did you backup the database and restore it to the now hoster?

did you copy the wordpress files to /testing or /testing/wordpress?

Are you able to delete the database and then create a new one?
If not, and there is no need for the old db entries try to delete all content and tables in the db and reinstall.

I could not do that much without login – anyway.
It seems that the root user has only local access (root@localhost instead root@% for global connections.

I tried to reach your server and got the message ” ERROR 1044 (42000): Access denied for user ”@’localhost’ to database ‘helm.circulatingvibes.com:3307′”

I found an article how to setup mySQL with helm and root@% here

if there is an index.htm file this is part of your old site.
I recommend to rename it, instead of deleting it.
e.g. oldindex.htm

After that check if your wordpress site works.
If so you can delete the old files or archive them in a separate directory.
