If you use WordPress and aren’t uploading dozens of images at at time, why use FTP?

Greetings. One of my clients had something like 30,000 comments in a short time. He was a victim of a SPAM Attack. My recommendations are the following:

– First turn-off comments UNLESS your site depends on open discussion for revenue

– Use the Askimet Plugin

– Go to your settings and delete the PING-BACK feature

– Google search ‘delete comment worpdress plugin’ and install it.

Comments are FOOLISHNESS! 99% of the time in the 7 years I’ve used WordPress, these clowns ad no value and only cause headaches like you are now having.

To replace the PINGBACK feature, install an XML sitemap Plugin.

From what I can tell, it seems to be a part of the header???

IF and ONLY IF you are comfortable going straight to appearance > editor > header you may be able to remove this URL. However, IF this is a FREE THEME, I’d be careful doing so, you could destroy your site. If you are this brave..BACK-YOUR SITE UP FIRST…

Further, you have more fundamental development problems than just the video….

It will be too late but in a few weeks, EVERY WP newbie will be able to access FREE, online Video Tutorials on everything from site clean-up to set-up (70 video) for FREE.

Lynda.com is great for everything else except WordPress and Web Marketing. I’ve viewed the WP courses their and they are woefully inadequate, even for a newbie.

That doesn’t sound like a Theme issue, either setting up multiple ADMINS with restrictive access to their listing or a membership site with profiles which can be adjusted (listings).

WOW! You have one of the cleanest, yet message effective sites I’ve seen as a developer. GREAT JOB! Who is your theme provider?

I am not going to address the design element, someone else can however, your site takes more than 5 seconds to totally load. You will never gain significant search position with this problem.

I love the theme though. Two suggestions to increase your organic rank WITHOUT sacrificing image quality:

– Use GZIP plugin (may shave a few seconds off load)

– Host your images and slider on a sub-domain

That is a BROAD question. Do you have any more specifics? Proposal (RFP) prepared. As a web host service, your site is going to have to be ROBUST. For an accurate answer, give more specifics: Start with:

– Timeline for delivery
– # of pages
– SEO service needs
– LANGUAGE
– Member site or not
– Do you have all assets aggregated and ready for delivery to the developer?
– Will you manage the site or not?
– Who is your host?
– SEO expectations and geo-targeted keyword markets?

There are at least 100 more questions to be asked (at least) What you DO NOT want to do is let someone talk you into putting a budget you have to work with number in this forum. No offense but there are firms building WP sites (usually foreign) for $100 paying people $195.00 per hour to do so.

No one who develops EFFECTIVE WP sites would touch the job for $10.00 per hour or be the low cost provider. Remember the old song : “You can do bad by yourself. You don’t need no help to starve to death.”

Those who know what they are REALLY doing will bid it correctly.

Just a closing FYI – By reading forum threads, don’t let anyone confuse you with technical speak with WordPress technical speak (scripting, html, css etc) to RAISE the price. Most make working with WordPress WAY TO HARD!

An effective WP site is one that is one page #1 of search in their respective markets or have a plan to march up at least two spots per week until Page #1 is achieved or have a MASSIVE following (web traffic). Fancy design will NEVER take the place of high organic search ranks.

(I’ve put more sites and pages in TOP 3 positions than I can count and have NEVER designed a site – just develop and use templates)

It may be as simple as checking your page-post settings (full width page, portfolio etc). This is in the page and post build sections and gives you the option of selection the style of page for each post – page. Just a thought not knowing what theme provider you use.

Is a second sidebar (or footer) section even an option within the theme you’ve chosen? There is a simple script to use but I have found trying to alter pre-designed templates has unintended consequences throughout the them. Let me know

Nevertheless, who is your theme provider? Did you use WP default tools or set-up these things in your themes section from a 3rd party developer?
