Thanks for the replies! It is just that, I assumed that the https:// would automatically precede non-https:// links. I guess that works only in the case of browsers.

I am using firefox. Its not working in IE as well.
I disabled extensions, still not working.

I tried it. But no avail. Everything else is working fine.
