Certainly…but how. Do I create a different header.php file somehow so that the individual template will access it? Or just use php ifs within the current header file in the child theme?

Thanks Steve. I’ve already got the child theme (and a couple custom templates already). Will this also allow me to create a different header for the different templates (i.e. something where it will not look like a wildly different site but still be different enough for the user to know when they’ve changed from the school-related info to the church-related info? Perhaps moving the logo (or using a slightly different logo) and changing the tag line, etc.

Thanks again for the menu info.

Thanks for catching that…now to figure out why I put it there.

Yeah, I tried to go back to edit or delete my reply…I guess this isn’t Facebook.

    Thanks again.

Never mind. Here’s a link to a page with some images. Used the same short code for the gallery.

    Thanks.

Could you send me an email address. The pages are password protected and feature children so I’d prefer not having the password publicly available. If you’d prefer not to have your email address out, you can email me at [email protected].

    Thanks again.

I sell prints if photos using the plugin. However, in order to eliminate the possibility of someone purchasing $1 or $2 worth (which would result in me losing money on the sale due to my own minimums),I would like the plugin to enforce a minimum purchase of, for instance, $5. I was able to capture the “total” purchase line in the shopping cart display but that does not pass on a “surcharge” to PayPal to result in a final purchase amount of $5+.

Thanks for any input you can provide.

Thanks so much for your detailed reply. I think I got it working as desired… now to carefully copy it to a live site.

    Have a great week!

Thanks again for the quick reply. I was able to do it using the Markup and Styles. Had to use the paypal text from the site rather than the shortcode…but got it to work like I wanted. Thanks again!

Thanks for the quick response. I think the first link provides exactly what I need. (not sure if it would change being able to use the mapping rule…I upload via ftp and then use a plugin to import the image data into the media library).

This might be better off as a new topic but it’s related so I’ll include it here. While I didn’t do this last year, in the past, I’ve also included paypal buttons and a dropdown menu with each picture. What I did in the past, instead of using the gallery shortcode, was to create a webpage with a table…two rows per 4 or 5 images…one row had the image and the other row had a drop down to choose a size and a paypal add-to-cart button for each image. Is there anyway to add something like that (not in a table) using the MLA_Gallery? To make it more general, can you put additional shortcodes and/or html/php code inside the caption element that will produce different specifics for each picture? I’ll try to find one of the pages I did so you can see what I did in the past (I think I’ve taken it down since it was about 2 years ago).

    Thanks again.
    Allen.

In case it helps, the item is added to a separate page using a shortcode, not on a Shop page.

So, this brings up a question related to our conversation though not specific to the original question and title…”while I have you on the line” as it were.

I’ve made changes using a child theme CSS file many times over the years…this is the first time since the most recent upgrade last week.

When I go into the theme editor screen, the code you sent me is there. When I open the file through my ftp client, the code is there. However, when I view the actual Gallery Test page and open the page source, when I click on the link to the appropriate css file (in the child theme directory), the additional code is not showing there.

Is there something in the custom CSS implementation that is causing changes made in the code editor to not work like they used to?

If so, does it just impact the css files or will it also have an impact if I edit, for instance, the functions file?

Thanks for your help in solving this specific problem. Got it working correctly.

    Allen.

This also begs the question: is that setting going to be overwritten when the theme is updated? It shows that the style is coming from the index file…but I’m not sure if that’s in the theme or the child theme. Any ideas?

So. This is interesting (and not sure why this is happening). I was editing the file using the editor available from the Appearances–>Editor menu item. I just noticed that there’s something new (I believe in the newest version of WP) that says, “Did you know?
There’s no need to change your CSS here — you can edit and live preview CSS changes in the built-in CSS editor.” (and “built-in CSS Editor” is a link). When I clicked on that link, I was able to add the appropriate CSS text and it’s now working. So, apparently, the new built-in CSS editor is the only way to edit CSS now. Thanks for all your help!

So. When I go in through the inspector panel and add the same CSS you included above, it works fine. I checked through the page and there are a few other rules that are from the child theme css and they are working fine. For some reason, this one is not showing as having an impact on the css (the file is style.css?ver=1.0.99:15. If you look in the widget area, the rule for .widget-area .widget ul li is showing in the inspector area while this rule is not. I even tried just re-copying it from the inspector panel once I knew I had it correct and still didn’t have an effect.

    Did that too.
