I got it I updated the wp-config file to the other wp db with my files from my old host. Now when you go to the site I get this error

HTTP 500 external server error (cannot display page, etc)

On Chrome I get the Error establishing database connection.

Thank you again for your help

Databases aren’t files. They are completely different.
-Isnt that what holds all the wp files? Everytime I upload none of my original files (wp-config, wp-includes, etc) want to show up in the filemanager with the other new ones with the fresh install (only those go there for some reason)

You need to edit the wp-config.php file to point to your restored database
-What info do I need to put in there. Is there a tutorial for it?

    Since what isn’t showing?
-The new database I uploaded (my backup) isn’t in my filemanager at all. When I upload it shows in MySQL Databases & if I go to the backup to make sure it uploaded there it is as well. Just none of those files are in the filemanager or legacy filemanager

Open the wp-config-sample.php file in a plain text editor on your computer.
-I changed everything before I uploaded via FTP the fresh install of 3.0.5 (changed dab name, password, etc & put in the new security key). It shows as a new blog

The filename I got from my old host backup is oldname_wrdp1.sql.gz
Not a file I can extract? Does this make any difference? I removed it & tried reinsalling several times. The dump is always fine, but doesn’t show in the filemanager like the fresh install

Since it’s not showing in my file manager (as extracted or anything at all), I can’t get into the files to do anything?

Also, I don’t know what you mean by
Not specific to the wp-config.php file. Just see wp-config-sample.php.

Is there a tutorial to explain how to point it?

    Thank you so much again.

It imports properly & does the dump

I check & its in my databases-under MySQL Databases (not sure if I have to add a user & password for that one too after uploaded?) That shows blank under users, but the database is there

Yes, its the one I saved from my old host cpanel in backup & restore & then went to this new cpanel & used the restore.

    It does say
myoldcpanelusername_mynewname_wrdp1 though & I can’t change that (the file is saved as myoldcpanelusername_wrdp1)

    Not sure if that matters?

I got the correct version of wp to install, but I don’t know why it wont work & mysql files of my original site wont go into my filemanager?

I did the manual ftp install of WordPress 3.0.5. I downloaded the zip, extracted, then did everything in the wp-config file, etc. It set up the wp properly (like I am creating a new blog) & still shows that installation, not my other files I installed before.

I deleted & reinstalled those via cpanel, but still shows up as the fresh install?

    Thank you for your help!

Thank you for the advice. I’m trying to learn, so I don’thave to ask for help or bother anyone ??

I have used filezilla before, just needed to find the right tutorial. I’m sure once I see, then I will get it & be easier to understand

I really appreciate when people take the time like you did. I’m sure you are really busy ??

Honestly, I feel really silly, but I don’t know how to do that.

    So I delete the databases

Then download the WordPress 3.0.5 to my computer,

Then FTP that version of WP to the host

Then reupload all files & folders (is it Ok to do that through backup & restore like I originally did)?

    Thank you so much again!!

How do I do that? I am so not tech savy (I wish I was). I try reading up a lot, but it becomes so overwhelming. Thank you so much. I really appreciate your time!!

I am not sure, it was a couple updates ago. I think before 3? Is there a way for me to look it up?
