Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: How to edit dashboard settingsHi Esmi,
I finally got the site live. I made the changes to the wp_options table on the host server, to reflect my site URL. That made it happen.
Thanks so much for all your help. You got me over the hump.
Have a great day. I know I will now!

Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: How to edit dashboard settingsEsmi,
Thank you so much for the information. I used the wp_options table in the DB to make the change. Now I can login to my localhost Dashboard.
With that out of the way, now I must find the problem with the hosting side. When I go to my site: https://www.stpaulsmassillon.org, I am getting a page that only shows my navigation, not the front page. Not good. Here is what I did:
Migrated the WP files to the root directory on the host
Created the DB and imported the SQL database from my computer
Modified the wp_config file to match the new DB.I have been unable to log into the WP dashboard.
Now a thought, do I have to change the URL for the site1 in the database like I did before. Right now it is https://localhost/wordpress. Should it be my site address in order to run?
I appreciate all your help. This should be easy, but somewhere I missing something.
Thanks Esmi.

Forum: Localhost Installs
In reply to: Unable to retreive WP pagesEsmi,
I have to believe that the database was intact at the time when xampp went south, because the site was operational up to that point. I just looked at the tables in Phpmyadmin. The structures are there, but I don’t see any pages listed. Do you know in which file, or where they would reside? Does the name of the database have a .sql extension. If so, I can’t find any reference to any such files.
Interesting name Esmi. I had an aunt in England by that name, whom I met many years ago. Have never run across anyone with that name since.
Guess I will gear up for a rebuild.
Thanks.

Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Error establishing a database connectionI am having a similar problem installing WordPress on my LOCALHOST. I have double checked all the data, and it matches what I set up initially in regards to the database. I have the MySql setup through Xampp, and it appears to be running according to the Xaampp control panel.
Little frustrated at this point. Any advice?
Many thanks.

In reply to: Help with IFrame!I now have the Iframe box working, well almost. It is showing the posts page and recent posts, but I need to eliminate the header/footer and sidebar on that page within the IFramdek. What file am I seeing and how do I go about this?
The file name that I am using for the SRC is “page_id=79”. How can I edit that file to remove the above items?
Still struggling.

In reply to: Embed blog content into existing theme pageHere is the code I pasted into the file:

In reply to: Embed blog content into existing theme pageHere is what I have done. I added a scrollable IFrame to the body of the page. That works! Then I created a file called “blog_content.php”, and made it the SCR for the IFrame content. Itb is reading the file, but with errors.
The code I copied is the body of a template page that conatins what I believe is the code for the blogging content. It is as follows:
[Large code excerpt removed by moderator. Per forum rules, please use the pastebin for all large code excerpts. It works better anyway.]
Now, do I have the correct code? The file I placed in the “wordpress-mu/themes/Arjuna” directory.
Does this look like the way to go. All I want to do is call the file for the body of the IFrame, and it should work, correct?
What am I doing wrong, or is my theroy for all this messed up?
Thanks for your reply!

In reply to: Embed blog content into existing theme pageThanks for your quick reply. Not grasping what you mean. So let me put it another way.
I create a blank page from the theme. Below the header/navigation, I insert a picture. Then below that picture I want to embed in an area the posts/replys, etc. into a fixed area frame, minus the header and footers. Then below this area I will insert another picture. The viewer would always see the pictures, and then have the ability to scroll through the posts/replys in the middle without scrolling down the page as in the usual fashion.
I hope this makes more sense. This may be a custom programming issue that is probably way beyond my means or ability. But this is what my clients wants. Whether it is possible or not is another story, cost wise.
