In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Alas, took the site downHi Jeremy: Thanks for the reply. The error was a fatal memory error. I didn’t get the exact verbiage but this occurred once the plugin was activated and when I tried to do anything at all on the backend/admin/dashboard. When visiting my website, all that happened was a blank white screen. The only resolution was to delete the plugin.
What’s very strange is that this is on a Dreamhost Dreampress optimized-to-run WordPress setup that I haven’t done anything unorthodox (to my knowledge) to. In fact, I haven’t had a single hiccup up until using this plugin–and this is a plugin that came pre-installed.
I wish I could give you more details but as I said, once I realized it had taken my site down I had to take steps so I didn’t take time to document or try stuff.
My site’s at https://www.needcoffee.com if looking at it provides any info. Thanks again.

In reply to: [Plugin: WP Super Cache] The compression still mess up the page lookDonncha: Thanks for the responses…I’ll see about the upgrade. I’ll also try the new files…trouble is I can’t take another downtime hit on my main site…because it always happens during the 3 or 4 hours I manage to sleep each night. Go figure. ??
Anyway…here’s a question: is there a known way to cause this failure? Because if I can pull a trigger and see if it fails, I can do it on one of my lesser blogs and test it that way. But otherwise, it’s upload to one of them and keep trying it to see if it’s fixed–which is sort of an open-ended endeavor.
Thanks much for the help, chief.

In reply to: [Plugin: WP Super Cache] The compression still mess up the page lookDonncha: Running 0.8.6 on WP 2.6.5 and people were getting the garbled text this morning, had to shut off gzip in the plugin. I do have mod_default and mod_mime installed. Apache 2.2.3 and PHP 5.1.6. Dedicated server, in case any of that helps.

In reply to: Comments lost when log in in WP2.5.1S4nnom: That’s my post you’re referencing, but I’m afraid I was having a different problem with posting, not when commenting. I’m no expert, but I don’t know if a time limit would be your issue anyway, since whether you’re logged in or not shouldn’t matter to the sort of blank page issue where you’re scraping against limits. Again, YMMV–I’ve learned WordPress inner workings by necessity.
Good luck, though.

In reply to: Google XML Sitemaps and WordPress 2.5.1Arne: 3.0.3.3 saved my sanity on this same issue. Thanks for the quick fix. My therapist thanks you as well.

In reply to: Banning a specific e-mail address in Spam Karma 2I’ll second that. If there’s a way to do it using the e-mail address or user name with Regex, I haven’t figured it out yet. He keeps slightly changing the content so I can’t really get him there. Any help would be appreciated.

In reply to: Displaying full size images inside template?Alex/filicide: I think what you’re trying to do is this:
https://www.needcoffee.com/2008/01/27/wordpress-full-size-images-in-attachment-pages/
I sent you an e-mail via your site, but just in case anybody else has this issue, which I did as well. Although moshu is correct, if your content area isn’t big enough, yer sorta stuck unless you use an attachment.php file to form a template for it. Good luck.

In reply to: WP Super CacheRok: Yes, I’m seeing the same thing. This is on WP 2.3.2 and using 0.5.4 of the plugin.

In reply to: RSS Repeats Random PostsI’m seeing the same thing. Bloglines will have random posts show up as new again or edited when I haven’t touched them. I tried Google Reader, but I don’t think it accepts edited posts, because I actually did go back and edit a post, and it never showed again in there. I downloaded something called RSS Reader just to try a different reader, and it showed two completely different random old posts whereas Bloglines showed a single random old post.
What could be happening to trigger a post to be seen as new or edited when I haven’t touched them?
If anybody wants to see it for themselves, you can find my feed here: https://feeds.feedburner.com/needcoffee
And this was happening before I moved the feed to Feedburner. So I’m without a clue.
