Figured this one out, but not quite sure of the solution.

I created a new Category in Admin -> Links, called it Useful Links. I added a few links in there, and removed all the links from the Blogroll category.

Then, to remove the other sections on the rhs that I didn’t want, I went into the Admin -> Appearance -> Editor and edited the file Footer.php to comment out the lines of code that were showing the ‘Recent Posts’ and ‘Meta’.

Now I’m just wondering what will happen if / when I upgrade my theme when a new one comes out… I presume my changes will disappear? How do I prevent this?

Ok, figured this out. I needed to set the default page to be a static page rather than a post.

Admin -> Settings -> Reading, Front Page Displays.

I was able to get ring of the extra home link by going to the Atahualpa Theme Options, and clearing the ‘Home link in Page Menu Bar’ field.

This removes the extra link, but I’m still left with the error message when I browse to the site without specifying any page. How can I specify that the Home page I created myself (page_id=43) is the default page?

I decoded it and removed the bits I didn’t want. Think I’ll look at using another template instead.

Thanks Roy, I had a look at that. It lists the pages in list format, which is no good for what I want, but I manually added a few more s for the pages I want on that nav bar.

I had just thought there would be a box somewhere in the page settings that I’d tick to include that page on the nav bar, or something. I didn’t expect to have to modify the code.

Thanks LH, I’ve entered a title and description in the general settings, but I want to be able to enter an individual title and description for each page. I just can’t see any way to do that.
